WATCH: Dr. Fauci Slams the Media for Continually Trying to 'Divide' Him and Trump

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, expressed his contempt for the media on Sunday during an interview on CBS News' "Face the Nation."

"You said this week that you differed from the president in an assessment that a combination of two drugs, Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin, combined, could have an outcome that he described to the public," Margaret Brennan said. "Who is the president listening to and do you see a concern here that those drugs could become, basically oversubscribed, and there could be a shortage that could impact people who have persistent medical issues, like Lupus, and need those?"

"There's an issue here of where we're coming from. The president has heard, as we all have heard, are what I call 'anecdotal reports' that certain drugs work. So, what he was trying to do, and express, was the hope that it might work, let's try and push their usage," Fauci explained. "I, on the other hand, am not disagreeing with the fact that, anecdotally, they might work. But my view is to prove, definitively, from a scientific standpoint, that they do work. So I was taking a purely medical, scientific standpoint. And the president was trying to bring hope to the people."

According to Fauci, the media is continually trying to find contrasts between what the NIAID director and the president have said about the Wuhan coronavirus.

"I think there's this issue of trying to separate the two of us," he said. "There isn't fundamentally a difference there. He's coming from a hope standpoint. I'm coming from it from a scientific standpoint."

The media has taken issue with President Trump suggesting that a combination of Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin could be a potential treatment for the virus.

But when New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) suggested it, the mainstream media applauded the proposal. The media has continually praised Cuomo for his response to the Wuhan coronavirus but point to Trump and say he's not doing enough. Interestingly enough, Cuomo has repeatedly praised the Trump administration for working with states to make personal protective equipment and testing available.

This is just another example of the media doing what they do best: spinning the facts in a time of crisis.

Well there is the Fauci that shows up on MSNBC and the Doppelgänger that shows up on Mark Levin’s show. Never let such a person be the public face. The last thing needed is mixed and conflicting messages.

I have felt like there has been a weird dynamic for some time but I usually get blasted for saying it

As someone said here, He enjoys being the foil to Trump

Is what he doing a good or bad thing? I dont know. Maybe you need a hard science by the book guy right now.

I dont particularly like what he is doing.

Below is the final question from that interview you posted. The reporter asking this is literally insane. He/she wants to open up travel from China to here. I didn’t take much issue with the rest of Fauci’s answers but it is disturbing that he didn’t quickly reply that it is insane to consider letting anyone from China into the country. Maybe he didn’t hear the question.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Q: Right now, why do we have a travel ban on visitors from China when there are few cases in China other than imported cases? What’s the logic?

A: I’m sorry. I was just looking at two text messages, one from a governor and one from the White House. I gotta get off.

Trump is a politician, Fauci is a doctor and academic, and from what I see they have agreed to disagree. Too many on both sides are viewing this politically and trying to fit people like Fauci into easy political stereotypes.

The President is satisfied with Fauci’s work. That is not good enough for much of the conservative press and many posters here. Since the President is happy with his work so am I.

Read the article and just WOW!

Is that for real or just satire?

Either that guy is the best bureaucratic bluff, baffle and bulls$$t artist I have ever experienced,or I don't even know what. Almost expected him to start a rambling rant about precious bodily fluids and how China was trying steal them - or the dire need for the deep state to retire to a secure underground bunker for a couple of decades ( not a bad idea actually if you think about it)

The CDC has failed miserably in its one clear mission in this emerging threat.

Hint - about all the Fauci CDC has contributed so far to the efforts to combat this virus is “is stand a little farther away from each other” and “no more than 10 to a room.”

That’s says it all and it speaks volumes.

Yup, under the circumstances pretty sure he and President Trump do have a few differences.

Un.. F’n ...believable .

Its okay to agree to disagree. I think a POTUS does need more than YES men around them.

The issue that I have with Fauci is one I really cant pinpoint..he makes me uneasy....except to say he should not be smirking and face palming and all the other antics.

The Hodgetwins cracked me up when they talked about how Pence had such a poker face as Trump was chewing that reporter out.

> The President is [acting] with Fauci’s work
and needs to have SOMEONE up there with him.
But like with all the other establishment players who didn’t outright oppose him, Trump will give this guy his day in the sun, then Dr F will be gone.

I wish he would stop the antics while Trump is doing press conferences.

Of course, Pence has been a politician for a long time and probably practiced a poker face early on in his career.

Fauci is managing to do that all on his own. All the media is doing is quoting him accurately.

Satan will decide when that woman takes her last breath

I strongly disagree. God makes the final decision, and has already made the final decision. Satan cannot act till God gives him permission. Please reread the book of Job.

“The FDA has long had a symbiotic relationship with the drug industry, which some might view as incestuous, or worse.”

As Milton Friedman pointed out a while back, every regulatory agency will sooner or later be coopted by the industry it is supposed to regulate.

Fauci is a pure bureaucrat. He is in a 100% cya mode. He believes if he sticks to uber scientific conservative and old theater way of doing things ( I call it the cookie cutter approach-one way fits all circumstances) when clearly this is very different circumstances.

The Chloroquin and Hydroxychloroquin have been approved for use for literally decades and all side effects are known. Plus there is evidence the treatment has a REAL effect on the China Virus as reported from MANY different sources and must recently a French study done scientifically and reported today. Even though except for the French study the other reports are anecdotal by definition there is nonetheless an overabundance of these reports, far more than would be normal if in fact this medication was not effective.

The point here is there is little to NO downside to trying this treatment on the China Virus and a whole lot of upside. It is actually going to be used to treat 1000’s and 1000’s of people in NY starting tomorrow and we will soon know how effective it is.
