America's FDA, and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, are dragging their feet on approving a drug that provides very strong positive effect on COVID19.
Fauci, speaking from the White House, said on the matter of approving Hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin:
Official government guidance to doctors! From the world's most populous nation! With the largest COVID19 infection! Which has shown the largest drop in caseload! This is "anecdotal evidence" to Dr. Fauci and America's FDA. These imbeciles are so busy making the paperwork go faster for you (while America plunges into the grave, and the fix is on the shelf at Walmart?) that they are incapable of noticing anything that happens outside the beltway. But don't you feel better that he has a Medal of Freedom? And that a month from now, he'll get back to you about that pill-thing?
Two national governments, multiple peer reviewed studies, a clinical trial, the most prestigious journals - these are not high-enough for Mr. Medal Dr. MD-PhD Fauci. He's above all that. Maybe the type of the research - performed by your beltway buddies - dismissing the work of the French, the Chinese, and the Belgians - is more important than ten thousand innocent lives plunging into the mass-grave dug with a back-hoe? After all, you're big MF, MD-PhD, on TV! The standards must be impossibly high.
So high the little people can't meet them.
While thousands of Americans lie dying, the citizens of Belgium and France and China are given Hydroxychloroquine and are recovering. Having gotten off their butts and done the research those nations, while Fauci and FDA was strutting around wondering how to fill out paperwork faster, deserve credit for publishing actionable scientific conclusions.

Doctors are using it anyway off label.
No chance in hell the FDA, CDC or WHO are going to stick their necks out on COVID-19. They are completely in CYA mode.
It is approved, just not for the wuhan virus. I think it will start to be used anyway if enough people are helped/cured.

It’s legal. What is the problem? Any doc can prescribe it even for off label use.

Fauci seems to think he knows best when Fance and Italy are using it as well as China and South Korea. Why Fauci wont let it happen is beyond me. Remember if the FDA allows it, Doctors don’t have to be worried about lawsuits. Now they are open to them.
The democRATs can’t get their recession before the election if there is a cure and an economic recovery.
The slow walk on HCQ and zinc is directly correlated to how soon the release of remdisivir and a vaccine. HCQ is too cheap to be allowed into the general population dontchaknow.
The doc who prescribes it has to be confident that he’s not going to be sued if something goes wrong in a particular off-label application.
hopefully it’s being used before a patient is intubated and near death. That type of end-stage use would likely skew the data regarding its efficacy

Did you see his interview with Mark Levin tonight? I didn’t get that feeling. He could be wrong about his whole approach but I don’t think it is intentional.
It has nothing to do with sticking necks out or avoiding risk and everything to do with maintaining bureaucratic prerogatives. They are paid to follow a process and if they can make the process more complex they can get an increase in position and hire assistants to do their jobs for them.
It's about power and position. Period. They have authority even if negative and they are going to use it.
It does have some rugged side effects at higher doses, I hope it works for the china virus.

It is approved.
FDA can do an Emergency Authorization to use it for this which could make more doctors use it.
