It seems some viral infection pandemics are more equal than others. At least when it comes to burning a vibrant Trump economy to the ground.

Exactly. That's what's happening in Italy now. They don't have enough ventilators, masks, beds, or medical staff.
Fauci wants to spend an undefined amount of time studying the effects of hydroxychloroquine. As a typical bureaucrat, it takes him months/years/decades to do something that people in the private sector can accomplish in days/weeks/months. The words “urgency” and “speed” are not in his vocabulary.
Do you think the US might have better success vs. the virus than Italy?

This particular antibiotic, azithromycin, works by blocking mRNA needed to make proteins. Mexican Beer Virus is an RNA virus, so the thought is that this drug blocks the viral RNA so the virus can’t replicate. Similar actions by AIDS drugs and other anti-virals make them promising treatments, too.
I hope so. But, the U.S. also has a finite number of masks, ventilators, beds, etc.
I believe that it has anti-inflammatory properties so, in addition to fighting any opportunistic bacterial infections that may arise, it helps minimize the possibilities of damage from cytokines storm.
Fauci is a poster boy of the Intellectual Yet Idiots, who tell us how to live our lives based on political bs instead of data/facts/realities.
And they profit from this as well.

That will climb if they run out of ventilators like Italy.
That is the main concern that a lot of people just aren’t getting.
You know damn well the msm and your local news with be highlighting as many deaths as they can, interviewing grieving family, talking about how this all could have been prevented - but Trump ...

Total reported cases 0.004% of population so number of infected people in noise level of population and rate of increase seems to be tracking rate of expansion of testing as much or more than spread of disease at this point

Well, if it means the insane War on Antibiotics is over, fine by me. For a while it was harder to get antibiotics for prophylactic use than opioids. And I know people who developed sepsis because of it.

My wife told me about the press conference but she didn’t know the person’s name. I told her the guy was an idiot no matter who he is. Because, as I understand it, of likelihood of pneumonia as the lungs progressively fail and immune system is compromised.

In the U.S we are about two weeks behind Italy and 6-12 weeks from the peak infestation. Comparing statistics with previous outbreaks is almost meaningless at this point.
It would not surprise me to see the US as one of the worst spots, due to: 1) lack of medical supplies (very few have mask to wear), 2) red tape in getting anti-Wuhan medicine approved, and 3) distaste for authoritarian rules. Lets pray this virus evolves into something less lethal and infectious, and for the quick distribution of effective medication.
