Actually, I’ve heard this before and it actually makes as much sense as anything The 535 Group, Treasury and the Fed do most days.
We would have to sell California to raise the money to pay for this insane plan assuming we could find a buyer.
Dear Rep. Rashida Tlaib,
That proposal made by some goldbug to solve the deficit problem by minting a trillion dollar coin and depositing it was satirical. It was not intended to become one half of seriously-proposed policy.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
etc.
“The Trouble with Trillions” is the twentieth episode in the ninth season of the American animated television series The Simpsons. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on April 5, 1998.[2] It was written by Ian Maxtone-Graham and directed by Swinton O. Scott III.[2] The episode sees Homer being sent by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to try to obtain a trillion dollar bill that Mr. Burns failed to deliver to Europe during the post-war era.
Monopoly money.
so give more illegals a reason to pour over the border and use fake social security numbers.
Why not just deposit One hundred trillion dollar bill? (zimbabwe)
For a while, I thought Hank Johnson (re Guam might tip over) was the dumbest person in the House. Tlaib has officially won that crown.

Key Point: The crisis never ends.
I fully expected this to be from ‘Babylon Bee’.
A spoof on Star Treks “The Trouble with Tribbles”?
Next, she will suggest giving the coins to Raul Castro to hold onto, for safe keeping
Yeah, I used to watch the Simpsons.
China
While this is ridiculous it is only a little more ridiculous than minting a one trillion coin or a half trillion coin.
Americans need to work. We cant just print money.
If we already have the tool and die set up to mint trillion dollar coins, shouldn’t we just keep minting them day and night, endlessly?
Yes I remember hearing the joke about a trillion dollar coin.
And she thinks it’s a serious policy proposal?
Are some politicians just lacking in reality, judgement, common sense, among other characteristics???
But on a serious note, I would wonder when the crisis would be declared over, and the free money spigot shut off? The way the liberals are, they will always find someone who has still not recovered from the economic dislocations of this crisis, and in their judgement, it would be wrong to terminate the assistance for that reason.
Since there is no way to mint a coin that is actually worth $1 trillion, you may as well print $1,000,000,000,000 on a piece of paper.
Uh, she’s about 10 years late but, totally believable she would plagiarize another idea...
