Even a disease as far-reaching as the coronavirus hasnt entirely crossed the chasm between red and blue America.
In several key respects, the outbreaks early stages are unfolding very differently in Republican- and Democratic-leaning parts of the country. That disconnect is already shaping, even distorting, the nations response to this unprecedented challengeand it could determine the pandemics ultimate political consequences as well.
A flurry of new national polls released this week reveals that while anxiety about the disease is rising on both sides of the partisan divide, Democrats consistently express much more concern about it than Republicans do, and they are much more likely to say they have changed their personal behavior as a result. A similar gap separates people who live in large metropolitan centers, which have become the foundation of the Democratic electoral coalition, from those who live in the small towns and rural areas that are the modern bedrock of the GOP.
Government responses have followed these same tracks. With a few prominent exceptions, especially Ohio, states with Republican governors have been slower, or less likely, than those run by Democrats to impose restrictions on their residents. Until earlier this week, Donald Trump downplayed the diseases danger and overstated the extent to which the United States had control over it, as the conservative publication The Bulwark recently documented.
Conservative media figures including Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity likewise insisted for weeks that the media and Democrats were exaggerating the danger as a means of weakening Trump. Several Republican elected officials encouraged their constituents to visit bars and restaurants precisely when federal public-health officials were urging the opposite.

Singapore doesn’t have HIPPA.
Think about it.

Are you going to let people come back home from cruises?

Getting calls from my friends in Kansas voicing shock about the Gov calling for lockdown. My response, How you like that Democrat now?

Until we get a vaccine that just might help...
Same device.
I’d guess international skiers flying in through Denver.
Plus private jets to Aspen.
Thankfully, Trump’s travel ban from China on January 27 slowed the virus here in King County.
Basically Seattle is the gateway to the Asian Pacific. We had Patient Zero who got here January 20 and Trump banned China on January 27.
King County has a huge amount of Asians and travel got banned but we did have Mr. Wuhan getting here on January 20.
The majority of King County citizens have been very good about self isolating but it is a dense county and we had the contaminated Life Care petri dish with many deaths.
We have flattened for the last couple days with eight deaths each day. If citizens continue good self-behavior we will be the first to pull out.
True, we are the most communist state in the nation but when the herd marches forward in a good way it does succeed.
All this was suggested by a former Presidential candidate (he sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1992 and 1996) as inevitable as a result of a “culture” war... Most Americans laughed at him then...
Now it has surpassed even his worst fears... The tree awaits...
L I K E ! ! !
I’m not taking the virus seriously at all. Complete non-factor to me. A rational look at the numbers for ACTUAL transmission and mortality rates, not “potential” shows that this is nothing more than a bad strain of flu. 15k cases in the US as of now? Flu has already killed 23k. This is the global warming of infectious diseases - all hype, no real substance. The one issue President Trump was unbeatable on was the economy. Now thanks to MSM hype and ‘rat governors actions the economy has taken a huge hit. We can only hope that they have over played their hand. The President will power through this, slam them with a dose of real numbers and the economy will rebound and be roaring back by the election. The President will get to rightfully claim to have saved us twice.
Was thinking this very thing today. So glad I don't live in a densely populated congested city for many reasons. This virus just adds one more reason.
Probably true. Hadn’t thought about that.
The very first hot spot in Idaho is Blaine County — home to Sun Valley and LOTS of private jets flying in with ultra-wealthy skiers.
Those types of people usually have low regard for others.
“The very first hot spot in Idaho is Blaine County”
Verrryyy Interestingggggg.
I was thinking that Idaho’s big dot was Boise, but now that I look closer at the map, it’s not in the right place for Boise.
I think I see a little bit of a cluster at Driggs, Ida./Jackson Wyo. that has come “online” in the last week or so.
