Momentum appears to be building for a national shutdown to confront the coronavirus crisis, raising the prospect that President Trump could issue an order requiring people to stay at home.
Such an order would be unprecedented in American history, but some of Trump's top advisors have said publicly they would be open to it. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Sunday he had raised the prospect of such a dramatic step with the administration.
I think we should really be overly aggressive and get criticized for overreacting, Fauci said Sunday on NBC's Meet The Press. I think Americans should be prepared that they're going to have to hunker down significantly more than we as a country are doing.
More and more states and cities on Friday were taking drastic steps to stop the spread of the coronavirus, which has infected more than 14,000 Americans.
Even some who have been outspoken critics of the Trump administration say faster action must be taken to avoid a catastrophe on the level that Italy faces today.
We are 2 weeks behind Italy, Ezekiel Emanuel, a former top Obama administration official now at the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School, said Friday on MSNBC. I am a little curious why the task force and the president have not made this a mandate nationwide. Not the lockdown but a mandate for all the states and to close restaurants and do the other things. It seems to me they are being slow on this.

You will never get my wing recipe. :^)
I’m aware of everything you are so exercised about.
If I were President and I had the hard evidence, it would be an immediate all out war with China and I’d explain why.
No. Not it’s not rising. Quite the contrary.
Here are the death to infection rates in the US:
3/16: 1.84%
3/17: 1.70%
3/18: 1.62%
2/19: 1.50%
3/20: 1.29%
Final data, per @JordanSchachtel on Twit is that today’s number is closer to
1.24%
So this is plummeting. @ObGyn (Deplorable Greg, a doc friend who has had this pegged from the beginning, says infections will turn down on 4/21, maybe sooner.
I think probably we have 10 more days of “containment” before the all clear is given.
Then watch the economy absolutely explode, probably bigger than post WW II.
Some really good news.
I’m looking forward to the rebuild, though I’m not sanguine about the hopeful timing.
Momentum from whom?? The media and Dems? Yup.
Where was the panic in 2009/2010 when ...
“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that swine flu infected nearly 61 million people in the United States and caused 12,469 deaths. Worldwide, up to 575,400 people died from pandemic swine flu.”
Oh, that’s right ... Obutthole was president.
“I think probably we have 10 more days of containment before the all clear is given.
“Then watch the economy absolutely explode, probably bigger than post WW II.”
Even if the incidents of virus grind down to nothing, I’m skeptical of the alphabet agencies being honest about it. I hope and pray you’re right.
Thanks Boss!
EXACTLY!
Prayer Up that you are correct.
There’s something happening here...
What it is ain’t exactly clear...
Many counties in the USA are rural and folks keep a distance. I can see the cities being involved in this if they decide to do this
Praying so!
What we are not being told is that this is an unfinished Chinese bioweapon.
“Then watch the economy absolutely explode, probably bigger than post WW II.”
I sure hope you’re right.
What an adventure.
“Except South Korea which has done both. So you’re wrong. “
Dream on...they went to hard lockdown there too.
there are probably thousands upon thousands of people in this nation who have it but have not been tested...the death rate will plummet as they test positive and the mass hysteria will only help President Trump in the end.
No doubt about it...
There are some who think Trump should act beyond what congress has already lined up with the cash party.
Martial law or a nationally mandated shutdown by Trump is a trap.
Last the states do it. No upside for Trump.
