The Trump administration, moving quickly to halt the spread of the coronavirus, is seriously considering grounding all passenger air traffic for up to 30 days, temporarily halting stock trading on Wall Street, and imposing a shelter-in-place rule, according to officials.
Key officials have begun alerting industry leaders, Capitol Hill, and agencies that the “radical” plan could come early next week if the warlike efforts to stop the spread of the virus fail.
On Thursday, the administration began to prepare the nation for 9/11-style moves when the State Department issued a “Level Four” warning against traveling overseas. The warning is the most severe that the department has.
In a notice, the State Department said Americans traveling abroad may find their travel “severely disrupted” and “may be forced to remain outside of the United States for an indefinite time frame.”

Here in Poland our government put in the same draconian measures as Taiwan: no gatherings of > 50 people, all malls, cinemas, etc. shut for a fortnight including eat-in restaurants (you can take away). All schools closed for a month. Only groceries and pharmacies open. Everyone wearing a mask. Frequent testing.
The borders are closed to foreigners and any citizen/resident returning has a mandatory enforced quarantine (not a self-quarantine but a real quarantine)
Net result? We have as of today the 20th of March, just 355 cases and 5 deaths. In contrast Germany has 13,000 cases and 13 deaths. Switzerland has 3K case and 31 deaths
We don't have panic in the streets and the groceries are stocked
The draconian measures seem to work - we are able to cope with the cases we have. That's the whole point, flattening the curve so that the medical facilities can cope

Bannon routinely has Steve Hatfield on his pandemic podcast- Hatfield being a retired Ft Detrick bioweapons expert. Hatfield hasn’t said anything along those lines so I’d be sceptical of it. It would be big news.

you are being very wise...someone quietly posted very early this week that he saw a preliminary National Command memo and this coming week an 8 week shut down would take place...would include limiting (not completely stopping) domestic travel.
My personal opinion is the governors have been briefed and are beginning the process to allow time for the people to try to come to terms with it.
I strongly believe we do not understand or know what every head of government has been told. You do not get every head of state to allow their economies to be blown to pieces without a DAMN GOOD REASON because let’s be honest they have an ego and want to be re-elected. This is something MUCH MUCH BIGGER and we don’t have a clue. And to those that say “well it is simply for the takover by elite or those behind the scenes”, I say maybe but there are good head of state guys here also that are closing shop lock stock and barrel- men who still believe in freedom. I think that is telling.

I have heard the Washington Examiner has a lot of “Never Trumpers” and I did notice on twitter they were very negative toward Trump when he announced he was running for President.
I kind of doubt it - he doesn’t want to impose some of the restrictions already there but the flames of panic have tied his hands.

In the U.S. 38% of those hospitalized are under 35.
In France half of those in the ICU are under 65.

We have Dominican employees who go to New York City every weekend to visit relatives. I wish Governor horses ass Worf would stop these buses from Hazleton going into Manhattan. I am nervous today. I have my office door shut.
Maybe have Gov. Wolf make a deal with DiBlasio to keep them in NYC once they get there.
