The Fight against Socialism Isn’t Over. Bernie Sanders isn’t a relic. He’s a preview of things to come.
National Review ^ | March 14, 2020 | Matthew Continetti

Democrats are breathing a sigh of relief. Joe Biden’s victories on “Mini Tuesday” make his delegate lead all but insurmountable. Bernie Sanders’s electoral weakness, compared with his performance four years ago, has dulled the fear of an incipient socialist takeover of the world’s oldest political party. The left is said to have talked itself into believing its own propaganda and helped President Trump equate Democrats with socialism. Victory in the primary did not come from pledges to eliminate private health insurance or impose wealth taxes. It followed from the perception that Biden is the candidate best able to defeat Trump.

Don’t write off the socialist revival just yet. Sanders might not win the Democratic nomination. But this outcome does not mean the forces that propelled him to second-place finishes in the two most recent Democratic primaries will vanish overnight. Abandoning the intellectual fight against socialism, both inside and outside the Democratic Party, would cede the field to an increasingly sophisticated and networked band of ideological activists whose influence in media and politics is greater than their numbers. Such ambivalence could have devastating consequences for American society.

The resurgent left has pushed Biden far beyond where he stood as vice president. And a socialist infrastructure guarantees the philosophy’s longevity. Aspiring Democratic politicians must at least deal with, if not pay obeisance to, groups such as the Working Families Party and the Democratic Socialists of America. Especially if they inhabit a deep-blue district ripe for picking by the “Squad.”

Fashionable, lively, radical, and controversial outlets, including Jacobin, Current Affairs, the Young Turks, Chapo Trap House, and Secular Talk, complement popular Instagram and Twitter accounts. And the New York Times magazine’s “1619 Project” shows that the mainstream media is responsive to, and willing to participate in, the latest trends in anti-Americanism.

The fight will continue until Jesus returns with a rod of iron and destroys the age of men’s laws.

IMHO. The more left they go, the more embarrassingly obvious they are. The nut houses of yesteryear were canceled because somewhere in their fading rationality, they knew this was their eventual home.

Yes it is. We have been forever turned socialist by a damn cold. There’s no going back now. People are blind to the economic realities about to smack them squarely in the face in about a month. Going to make 2008 seem like a booming economy.

Perhaps I should expand this further because it’s timely and important:

THE SIREN SONG OF SOCIALISM

This is a perennial issue with The Last Refuge as similar subject matter was posted two years ago on FR.

But today we have a contingent of Americans that are listening to Socialism so it behooves us to examine what is driving so many young Americans to consider a massive failure of economics that is Socialism. And let’s not be distracted by connections between Socialism and Communism, by causal influences from a lefty academic edifice, and so on. Such discussions have value but will draw us away from the real focus which is why young Americans are not embracing Capitalism. Let’s talk about that.

Socialism today is very much a rallying cry, as is climate change, as are a slew of other leftist rallying cries that socialists pull out to whip the public narrative to their side.

The service economy that multinational globalists have concocted over the past decades is NOT an expression of Capitalism which is the best economic system ever expressed for the quality of life and health of populations. What multinational globalists have expressed is an OLIGARCHY.

oligarchy NOUN
* a small group of people having control of a country, organization, or institution.
* a country governed by an oligarchy, “the 19th century English aristocratic oligarchy”
* government by an oligarchy.

Oligarchies have replaced American enterprise in every aspect of life.

Look at the news outlets, the fake news outlets, the legacy media is now controlled by six corporations. This is OLIGARCHY, it is not Capitalism.

Many have forgotten what Capitalism is and why it’s good, why freedom underpins the culture and commerce of Capitalism.

What is Capitalism in its basic, undressed, pure form?

Here’s a universal example that drives it home, that allows your teens to grasp it quickly.

Three people come together and make an agreement to work out a way to produce something that they can’t produce individually.

One person brings land.
One person brings seed.
One person brings a plow and a mover.

The three people plant a crop that by their design yields much more than what they need for themselves and their families. They produce more than they need, a surplus to TRADE with other producers so that they can gain things they need that they did not produce but which others produced. In like manner, other producers trade with our 3-person group to gain products that they need.

Capitalism in its simplest form can be thought of as producing a surplus for trade with other producers. Freedom is part and parcel to Capitalism because free choices are made in every aspect of Capitalist expression.

When our 3-person group is shoved aside and are required to work in servitude of Oligarchs, they are no longer Capitalists, they are serfs.

Serf NOUN
* an agricultural laborer bound under the feudal system to work on his lord’s estate.

Today’s serfs are no longer confined to agricultural work. They are found in every part of established commerce. They are distinguished that they have a ‘lord’, or a boss, and they possess no real substantive freedom and they certainly have very little opportunity to produce anything trade-worthy that allows their entry to the fabled Middle Class of history.

Our 3-person simple example is lost on young Americans who are treating socialism as if it is legitimate. THEY THINK OLIGARCHY IS CAPITALISM. They are confused.

What young Americans are confused about it that no matter how hard they work, no matter how much education or how many skills they obtain, they, in the average, are not able to get ahead. The Middle Class is an illusion for them. They are saddled with student loan debt, they are saddled with high rents, high utilities, high costs every which way they turn.

There seems nothing they can do to break out of their servitude. They have nothing of note, they have little freedom, they try to be good people and yet the ‘system’ has them in a hole they find it very hard to get out of.

Some can say it’s their fault. Some will always say that. But that’s NOT the way of Capitalism. That’s a form of indentured servitude by another name.

Yes, there are some young Americans that manage to break through the barriers, but there are not many of them.

The bulk of young Americans find themselves shut out of the Middle Class.

A strong thriving Middle Class is a powerful indicator of a rich society.

And the Middle Class has been dying in America.

As hard as they work and try, young Americans can’t get ahead.

And the Siren Song of Socialism calls to them that this is the failure of Capitalism which is a lie.

The reason the Middle Class has been dying is because Americans are no longer Capitalists, they are serfs, bound to servitude of the Oligarchy.

A large vision of President Trump;s is to bring back Capitalism to young Americans by having them discover their history, their freedom to produce and profit, so they can TRADE and satisfy all needs and then some, for themselves, their families and their communities.

And believe it or not, the President’s remarks today about the Federal Reserve leading with negative interest rates plays into a plan to bring young Americans into true Capitalism and freedom. By taking out business loans that pay them rather than the other way around, young Americans will be able to buy land, seed, machinery, structures, technology, to create and distribute products that will land them solidly into the Middle Class. A negative interest rate policy NIRP will wipe out the deficit and also begin to reverse the national debt which is impossible to erase through taxation. All of this spells massive freedom (but hard work) for young Americans and a return to and an embrace of Capitalism.

We can talk about how long a NIRP should stay in place. It won’t be forever. You will love the answer. It’s ingenious. We have a President that is truly a practical genius at business, trade, taxes, banking, and economics.

Speaking of the primaries, a couple of related thoughts:

(1) How close did we come to shutting down some of the primaries caucuses leading up to and including Super Tuesday due to COVID-19?

(2) How much of the spread of COVID-19 was aided by the caucuses and primaries?

I think there is some confusion here. What Sanders is preaching is going to remain as it has for many centuries. But make no mistake about it, he is the textbook definition of relic, just like Stonehenge. Been there and has done nothing for centuries but weight down the ground it sits on.

Socialism is like debt. It obligates and enslaves you in the seduction and illusion you are getting something for free.

There is a, unfortunately, profanity laced video which makes a very good point. It is of John Goodman in the movie The Gambler, where he describes the “Position of ‘Fuck You’”. I am sorry for the language, but it makes the point beautifully.
https://youtu.be/rJjKP8vYjpQ

The point is, if you forgo the video, that we give up our ability to say “go away and leave me alone” when we accept the concept of socialism. It obligates and denies individual rights in the name of the collective, and it does so forever until the “tree of liberty is watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots”.

The ONLY way to fight socialism is in the SCHOOLS. If we let the progressive teachers keep up their lefty teaching, then people will grow up in favor if socialism. We need to control the education process to TEACH the DANGERS if socialism and the REASONS why capitalism isvalwats successful.

Break up the 6 media companies that control 90% of what we see and hear. The truth would come out about the socialists and communists.

If they taught that, kids would recognize that our own society is actually cronyism. If you teach them put capitalism is, they would understand that were in a centrally planned heavily regulated economy that bears only the barest form of capitalism as a disguise.

Socialism is pure evil, communism lite. The ideology that has murdered millions.

But the dark side of human nature craves it and wants to be ruled over.
This great nation was founded on a different idea, that individuals are free to choose their own destinies and not be ruled over by kings or tyrants.

Tucker said a truth, Bernie never wanted to win, if he loses he is pure and true to his beliefs and agenda, he gets paid handsomely from the DNC to be a pied piper and bring in his followers to vote for biden. Biden will promise a big job in his administration where he can implement his agenda and hire his minions. Bernie’s bank account is happy

I received an email from CA this a.m. saying the whole CV thing could be a dry run for a communist takeover.
I’m not inclined to doubt it. At the very least, the left-leaning PTBs are watching closely & taking notes, for public behaviors/ responses that can be useful tweaked accordingly & re-exploited in the future.
We’re experiencing a de facto, albeit somewhat spotty, imposition of martial law.
Calling out the National Guard?
Seizure of guns next?
It happened during Hurricane Katrina...
