Trump says he might add the U.K. to sweeping European travel restrictions aimed at curbing the coronavirus. Starting at midnight, the U.S. will ban foreigners who have been in one of more than 26 European nations over the last two weeks. The announcement sent airline stocks tumbling and led to deep cuts in schedules through the summer.

You can discuss whatever you like.

However, I post various stories to one thread instead of bunch of threads..usually from Daily Mail...and they will cover more than one topic

Unfortunately, from what I understand of UK’s approach, it needs to happen ASAP.

Perhaps the attitude is what prompted it

It doesnt really matter at this point. It is here. It is everywhere. We just dont know because no testing

I take the viewpoint that people over 50 or with underlying conditions better be careful

If you are young and foolish and strong you can go hop on the planes and get some pretty sweet vacations.

“It doesnt really matter at this point. It is here. It is everywhere. We just dont know because no testing.”

I think there is too much concern over testing - we should assume everyone is exposed, and that it will run its course before long a vaccine is available.

The way I understand it, doctors treat the symptoms anyway - i.e., if somebody’s lungs are filling up and it becomes life threatening, they will need to be intubated, put on a respirator, etc., regardless of whether the condition was caused by corona virus.

So, concentrate efforts on increasing capacity for those treatments, not waste effort on testing.

I’m 68 so I’m worried about what it will do to me if I get it. I’m going to wash my hands, minimize contact and hope the spring sunshine kills it off before it gets to me.

Exactly. Testing is pointless. You know it’s here, you knew it was going to be here.

That’s why this whole thing about blasting Trump and the CDC for lack of test kits is BS. It didn’t make one iota of difference whether or not we had the kits or not. It was coming just the same.

The European Travel Ban makes a lot of sense, and I will tell you why.

If I am in Italy, and I get a nice COVID-19 exposure, or if I start to feel a little run down, what am I going to do?

If I stay in Italy, I know that if I get sick the medical system is completely broken down. They are making the hard decisions about who gets a ventilator, and who will be left out in the hallway to die, and more and more are being left out in the hallway.

Nothing against the Italians. They are in a tough spot, and making the tough calls.

I could go to Germany or France, but they are going to be in the same spot, soon enough. And then if it comes to an Italian on the ventilator or a Good German on the ventilator, I have a pretty good idea how that will go.

So I am going to head to the airport and get on the first plane to JFK. I am going to get myself to America, where there are more ventilators per 100,000 people than anywhere else on the planet, where I can walk into an Emergency Room, and they will move Heaven and Earth to save my sorry Italian self. I will go to America, where the disease is still just getting started, and beat the rush.

It is the rational thing to do, and people will do it by the thousands.

And in doing so, they will sicken hundreds of thousands. In a month, we will be out in the hallways of American hospitals, deciding who gets the ventilator, and who is left out in the hallway to die.

We are not going to do that. Stop the flights. Ban European Travel.
