President Trump says a domestic travel ban within the United States is “a possibility” to fight the spread of the coronavirus from Wuhan, China.
While answering questions at the White House on Thursday, Trump said he was not ruling out a plan to implement a domestic travel ban to stop state-to-state transmissions of the coronavirus.
The exchange went as follows:
REPORTER: Are you considering travel restrictions within the United States, such as to Washington State or California? [Emphasis added]
TRUMP: We haven’t discussed that yet. Is it a possibility? Yes. If somebody gets a little bit out of control, if an area gets too hot. You see what they’re doing in New Rochelle, which is — which is good, frankly. It’s the right thing. But then it’s not enforced, it’s not very strong but people know that they’re being watched … New Rochelle, that’s a hotspot. [Emphasis added]
Trump’s reference was to New Rochelle in Westchester County, New York — just above Manhattan — where neighborhoods have been under quarantine and where the U.S. National Guard has been sent in to enforce travel restrictions.

You need to put your foot down. That’s very selfish.
I wasn’t planning on going anywhere anyway. Things are going to get worse before they get better. And I’m not talking just about the virus. It would be a good idea to carry a sidearm. Just in case.
If they cut off New York and California the progs will accuse PDJT of meddling in the election process.

Mass quarantine, or similar to what is being done in Italy, is possible.
This isn’t the flu. It’s quite clearly and very obviously something else.
Whatever is going to happen, is going to happen. Sitting behind a keyboard isn't going to change anything. So you might as well be proactive and look out for #1.
And, I have to say it again: If you ain't got no emergency food and general supply kit, you're @ss out. I am not a hardcore prepper by any means, but I have a year's worth of emergency food and hard supplies in an undisclosed location.

You don't have to answer the door. Uninvited, is uninvited. We have a few weird friends among the good ones, the weird ones arrive unannounced. Despite us telling them we want advance notice. We simply don't answer the door. Video doorbells are wonderful, showing their perplexed faces on our video monitors. We always clear our visits to our friends and relatives ahead of time (especially for out of state visits).
While some may say it’s over-reaction or acting out of an abundance of caution, in fact the logic of constraining all travel as much as possible is sound as a means of “flattening the curve”.
It’s simple: the virus can be carried by people who have no symptoms so they don’t know they’ve got it. As they interact with others, the virus can be transmitted. Fewer interactions, fewer chances for transmission.
Everything comes with a cost, and I don’t mean just financial. Restricting freedom of movement or personal liberty is something we take very seriously but again. the bolder the move, the more impact it will have.
Consider an analogy to rationing during WWII, many endured a temporary inconvenience (which was actually much harsher) to support the greater good of the nation.
I agree with this possible action 100%. If certain states develop hot spots or, if certain states themselves become hotspots, they need to be isolated from the rest of the population until the virus burns out in those areas.
There are many people, especially Liberals who have been documented to have violated self-quarantines.
How are you going to get there with a travel ban?
How would you know if you have the corona virus. From what the health department has said, 80% of the people who get it have no symptoms, but are contagious. The other 20%, it sucks to be you.
My son is in the Bay Area, he says it’s going nuts there now. We are thinking of bringing him home, especially if his employer closes down.
Well, if people aren’t running to and fro to mingle, it’s gonna put a crimp in ol’ CV19’s style, for sure.
