The Puerto Rican invasion of Florida after Maria severely strained the resources of Florida's school systems (immediate overcrowding) and negatively impacted the rental housing markets. Several hundred thousand Puerto Ricans flooded the welfare rolls here. The claim that Trump "did nothing" is a total fabrication as fairly recently it was discovered that Puerto Rican government or labor union officials had deliberately concealed in warehouses all of the emergency supplies that the Trump Adminstration had ordered shipped to the island. An arrogant ungrateful people. And they're going to turn Florida blue? You can see cars with Puerto Rico license plates on the streets of Tampa. We've been holding their hands financially for decades. First with federal assistance going back to the 50's, and now they are feeding off Florida's taxpayers every time life throws them a curve ball on their island. Another excuse to migrate to the mainland. And get on the goodie express. Our property taxes contain TWO assessments for education: One county and one state. Education makes up about 85% of the tax bill. For these people and their kids.

The American emergency supplies that were sent were diverted by government into warehouses,
and labor unions were either unable, or unwilling to transport supplies off the shipping docks.
The supplies were warehoused to supply government supporters and secure re-election power and control.
Puerto Rico is among the most socialist countries in central America,
where the government is the 'golden teat' from which many PR's are unwilling to be weaned.
