Tulsi Gabbard has many distinctive qualities. She's a Hawaiian Army National Guard Major, the first Hindu member of Congress and the first Samoan-American voting member of Congress but she is not going to be president of the United States.
She is not even going to be the Democratic Party's nominee for the presidency.
(Given that Gabbard met President Bashir al Assad of Syria in 2017, after his forces had bombed Aleppo to smithereens and failed to condemn him, it's pretty extraordinary that she is still in the Democratic race at all.)
No, she won't be America's first female president.
And, this time around, nor will any other woman.
As Elizabeth Warren said so poignantly, if American girls are looking for a role model in the Oval Office, they will have to wait another four years.
What happened to diversity?
The Democrats started this race, way back when Neanderthals still roamed the Earth it sometimes feels like, with a host of non-white, non-male candidates. One by one they dropped out.
If you want change in America in 2020, it seems, you are better off going with a white man in his 70s.
Warren referred to sexism in her farewell address. It's not the same sexism Hillary Clinton encountered when she first ran in 2008.
Back then souvenir shops sold nutcrackers in the model of the woman who'd both been a successful secretary of state and a US senator - if you're a successful woman, they implied, you must a ball-cracker too.
"Men beware" was the none-too-subtle message. Nor is it the sexism of the pointless, largely unflattering discussion of Clinton's trousers suits.
It is more subtle today, but Warren is right, there is still sexism.

Not where I came from. I heard woman after woman saying”I don’t believe in a woman President.” And Hillary, except for feminists and their cuck husbands was universally hated.
And then by extension, none of us white males can admire any black or other minority group members, or any women.
Is there really great angst among American girls growing up today, that there hasn’t been a woman president? Are we saying American girls today, who are growing up in a world of greater opportunities for women than ever before, feel that none of that matters, because Hillary isn’t in the White House, and no woman will be elected president in 2020?
No, the reason is because someone like Marsha Blackburn has not run for president yet.
3 white guys in their 70s end up with the possibility of being the rat nominee.
Aren’t they of the generation that said never trust anyone over thirty? They sure are hanging in a loooong time. ...
I always thought Palin would have been an awesome President......
After seeing what the Dems and the Enemy Media did to Sarah Palin, I can’t imagine another conservative woman that wants to jump at the chance to be personally vilified like that.
Yep. Dems ARE sexist - to their own party’s women and they’ll not give a second thought to DESTROYING a Conservative woman.
No, thank you! It’ll have to wait until we run out of older, Conservative men, of any color.
You need to look no further than the 8 years of Obama to figure out that affirmative action and gender-based quotas have no place in deciding the leader of the free world.
What happened to diversity?

I don’t know.
But I have a question?
What happened to journalism?
Because we haven’t had that for about 60 years.
Because Democrats are sexist pigs.
Even the women.
How bout Sarah Palin? I’d take her any day.
Yes but if she’s cute there are a whole bunch of freepers who will ignore he nutso leftwing stances.
When a Maggie Thatcher runs for President I will vote for her.
Two hurdles for the conservative voter.
One, she must be able to be administrative and not personal in her perspective.
Two, she must have a plan that sustains maximum freedom for the people.
A rich White politician who posed as a member of an underrepresented minority group to get prominent legal jobs and also used her fake racial identity to launch a presidential campaign are the main reasons Pocahontas is gone from the race. The best part is that her fellow Democrats put a fork into her themselves!
Ideas matter?
Blackburn would not be liked by black women, the base of the Democratic Party, and even some white women.
Black women view her as the typical white suburban woman who is “racist”.
I was going to say the same thing. Perhaps they need to look at their own party and come to the realization that the Democrats are the ones who are sexist, racist, and homophobic. Aloud, they claim to be so open minded, but when it comes to voting, they only want old, white men.
It’s their own voters that decided their nominee. Stop saying it’s the entire country.
I guess it was okay that John Kerry and Hillary Clinton kiss Assad's butt.
I thought so, too.
