Washington state announces presumptive coronavirus case in a school-age adolescent at Jackson High. No travel history. Unknown origin of infection.
ALSO in Washington state: new presumptive coronavirus case, woman in her 50s who was recently in South Korea
3 positive and 5 “presumptive” for WA state. WA only #’s are posted here by the state health dept.:

one just returned from Korea
STOP THE FLIGHTS!! (and Italy too)
With these odd cases coming up here and there, I am honestly wondering if this virus has been with us but not as contagious, for awhile. Has it been around for awhile and just considered another flu? Without testing for COVID19, could these people just get sick and recover from this “flu”?
=========================================================================================
HIPPA and PC are going to kill us.
We need an EO repealing HIPPA allowing public health agencies to name names so that those people can quickly figure out whether they had been in contact with infected individuals.
Individual privacy ends where public health begins.
But the High School kid is Washington State’s failure. Failure in tracking.
We have a ‘federal’ medical system here and the states have to do their part.,
Its too late ... now we need to deal with it
“STOP THE FLIGHTS!! (and Italy too)”
It’s too late. The horse has left the barn, the cat is out of the bag, the wad has been shot.
Also, the US has to accept US citizens back. We could stop all non-citizens (Unless they walk across the Southern Border from Mexico)
Its too late. The horse has left the barn,
but it reduce at least some of the cases
This virus is definitely more lethal to the older generation - it may end up being Called the boomer virus before its over
The new protocols coming soon are to assume any flu symptoms that result in a negative for a flu upon testing are presumptive Coronavirus infections. That assumption is going to send the numbers way up.
But the High School kid is Washington States failure. Failure in tracking.
I don’t understand why he was tested in the first place since it sounds like he was never super sick. unless I missed that part
plus why would they allow him to return to school before the test results?
They tested positive per the local health department, but it is presumptive until confirmed at the CDC
The CDC says Presumptive cases are to be treated as if they are confirmed cases.
” it may end up being Called the boomer virus before its over “
Interesting thought. Lord knows the media hates us enough to grab onto this.
so does “presumptive” mean that they are PRESUMING the student has coronavirus until the CDC 48-hour test confirms or refutes the asssumption?
“I believe that means a positive test result, from a test other than the CDCs?”
there is no other coronaviurs test besides the CDC’s ... without a CDC test, it is impossible to distinguish coronavirus from influenza because the clinical symptoms are identical ...
“No they have local tests now and this means they tested positive locally”
there are NO “local” tests for cornovirus ... the ONLY coronavirus test is at the CDC ... and without that test it is impossible to distinguish between coronavirus and influenza because the clinical symptoms are identical ...
there are NO local tests for cornovirus ... the ONLY coronavirus test is at the CDC ..
100% wrong
Shouldn’t we be reporting every new flu diagnosis in the US? After all, we’re seeing some pretty staggering numbers.
At a minimum the CDC is estimating the following in the US:
32,000,000 flu illnesses
14,000,000 flu medical visits
310,000 flu hospitalizations
18,000 flu deaths
