Michael Bloomberg has spent more than double his nearest Democratic presidential primary rival on campaign ads.

Data from political ad tracker Kantar/CMAG shows the former New York City mayor spent roughly $417.7 million as of Sunday morning, which according to CNN's David Wright, also includes futures reservations.

The amount is 10 times as much as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who leads the delegate race in the contest, have each spent. Here's a look at ad spending through today (including future reservations:

Bloomberg: $417.7 million Steyer: $193.6 million Sanders: $41.8 million Buttigieg: $40 millon Warren: $21.4 million Biden: $12.3 million Klobuchar: $10.6 million Gabbard $5.4 million

The closest candidate to Bloomberg in spending is Tom Steyer, a fellow billionaire who is self-funding his campaign, who poured about $193.6 million into ads.

As Bloomberg's spending has increased, so has his poll numbers. The former mayor has nearly doubled his support from 8% to 14% in just two weeks according to, RealClearPolitics national average.

Bloomberg's rise has coincided with Joe Biden's stumbling in early state contests. The former vice president's support has dropped nearly 10% in the last two weeks.

Bloomberg has faced criticism from his fellow contenders for buying ads instead of trying to qualify for debates. Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar said the billionaire's strategy is "to hide behind airwaves."

He has ads on Facebook all the time. I read some comments. Mostly, by far. are negative.

I’m sure he has an army of paid stooges posting positive comments.

I hope some political science graduate student watching this election is doing a doctorate thesis on how you can’t buy the office of the President of the United States.

It is just delicious irony after all of the years the Democrats have been complaining about how we have to get money out of our elections and a Democrat is dumping money in to this election as fast as humanly possible.

That's over $700 Million spent on ads, most of it attack ads against President Trump. So why is President Trump at his highest ever approval rating of 49% at Gallup?

Great analysis question.

Dems won’t answer that, though. Nor, will they say what good COULD have come from putting $1B towards helping homeless vets or homeless communities.

Dear mr Bloomberg, that half billion $$$ could have helped so many many people get off the streets and find jobs in NYC and elsewhere. People you claim to care about ( at least in your ads, if not in your secret tape recordings). Just saying

Must be more than that - I’m seeing his stupid face on tv everywhere and hearing it on radio.

Don’t even get me started on Mike Douglas selling out his father from his death bed.

Where’s antifa and the leftists screaming about rich white dudes now?

Keep spending it Mikey... keep spending it. One of the things I liked about PDJT’s 2016 campaign was how little he spend compared to Shillary. I’d love to see Mikey blow a big hole in his wallet and get squat for it....
