Klobuchar shifts on immigration before Nevada caucuses

LAS VEGAS -- Democratic presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar says she no longer believes English should be the national language of the U.S., disavowing a vote she took more than a decade ago as she tries to build support in a state where Hispanics make up a critical constituency.

Campaigning in Las Vegas, the three-term Minnesota senator said Friday that she has changed her stance since voting for an English-language amendment in 2007 and has “taken a strong position against” it. She also blasted President Donald Trump for using immigrants as “wedges” and said as president she would work with Republicans to achieve comprehensive immigration reform.

Klobuchar’s record on immigration is under scrutiny after her third-place finish in the New Hampshire primary this week revived her campaign and sent her on to Nevada’s Feb. 22 caucuses with fresh momentum.

Klobuchar was one of 17 Democrats to support a 2007 amendment that would have reversed President Bill Clinton’s executive order requiring federal agencies to provide materials in languages other than English. It passed 64-33, but the larger immigration bill died.

“I embrace immigrants,” Klobuchar said following a tour of the Culinary Health Center, which serves members of the majority female and Latino Culinary Union, among the most powerful union in Nevada politics.

The senator also faced questions about comments she made about border security during a 2006 campaign debate, and her 2007 vote for an immigration bill that would have beefed up fencing and enforcement among the U.S.-Mexico border.

She is as close to a “moderate” that today’s Democrat party has. But in 2020, thanks to Bernie and the AOC phenomenon, that’s not good enough. You must have true left wing bonafides to be on the national ticket. The first step to getting there is to renounce any past actions that might not be considered “woke”. Bloomberg recently did this by apologizing for stop and frisk which arguably saved black lives.

Not that I am a fan of Bloomberg or Klobuchar (far from it) but I can’t help but feel embarrassed for them.

Illustrative that any position short of absolutely open borders is strictly verboten in today’s Democrat Party.

“I embrace immigrants”
You sure do, biyotch, in return for their votes and contributions you’ll gladly give them the country, with a free money sweetener.

Amy embraces immigrants that she wouldn’t allow to live in her neighborhood.

I doubt she’s concerned about all the un-implemented immigration enforcement provisions.

This should be part of a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1987 ONE TIME amnesty. The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1987 goes like this -

1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund.

Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls.
