Subtitle: The former New York mayor's campaign has been reaching out to key party influencers, including some who support his rivals.
WASHINGTON -- Michael Bloomberg may be absent from the early-state ballots, but behind the scenes, he has been using his wealth and influence to undermine the rest of the Democratic field.
As the other candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination trudged through Iowa and New Hampshire in the early weeks of this year, Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, has doubled his planned spending on television ads, expanded his staff several times over and started aggressively courting key party influencers - including many who have endorsed top rivals like former Vice President Joe Biden.
Bloomberg could escalate his efforts even more directly after the results of Tuesday's New Hampshire primary are in and as candidates, party insiders and voters begin to reassess the state of the race.
On Friday, in a townhouse across from the Capitol complex in Washington, top Bloomberg campaign advisers huddled with about 20 House members to deliver a briefing on their strategy to win the nomination and defeat President Donald Trump.
The cross section of lawmakers, representing the Blue Dog Coalition, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus, included both members who have endorsed other candidates and members who remain undecided, according to a person familiar with Bloomberg's operation.
The strategy is to keep potential allies informed of Bloomberg's plans in case they decide to sign on later, the person said.

IMO, the dem’s are down to Bernie vs. Bloomberg.
A Millionaire Commie vs. billionaire Oligarch.
Have you seen Bloomberg at any debate?
In terms of real appearances...is Bloomberg really doing much? It’s mostly all Bernie and Mayor Pete who have the arenas filled up.
This might have been scripted out in the summer of 2018.
He’s too short.
That sounds like a gigantic win for America. I cannot think of a better reason to cheer for any of the other disgusting far left candidates in the race today.
That is the 64 dollar question. That the Democrat Party is going to take Bernie out is a given. The only questions remaining to be answered are how and when? Will they allow him to make it to the Convention before they yank the rug from under him? And that brings up the question of how will Bernie and the Bernie bots react? Will Bernie allow himself to be bought off as he was in 2016 or will he throw a fit? And the Bernie bots? How will they take and react to being screwed one more time? Has Bloomberg replaced the Clintons as the savior of the Democrat Party? Will Hillary, Bill and their cadre bow out gracefully?
This may be the best outcome we could hope for. It might take them 10 years to recover.
It could add another generation to the life of our Republic.
What if the DNC takes Bernie out through a heart attack?
That would placate the Bernie bots and allow someone else to be the nominee.
I have to laugh. I always tell my liberal friends that they would support anyone with a D by their name. I posit that if tomorrow Donald Trump Switched party affiliation to democrat, their party would fall in behind him LOCK STEP.
They all insist that the democrat party would NEVER support an old white billionaire who used to be a Republican.
Meanwhile, Mike Bloomberg says hello.
He can/will buy them off with bags of money or blackmail them with the dirt he’s got on them.

Yep. Bloomberg was both a republican and independent. I think this is his first stint as a "democrat". Bernie is a "democrat" for a few months every four years.
I very much dislike his attempt to purchase the Presidency.
Maybe, but some of them are on tape making that exact threat.
Lays groundwork- is that a euphemism for passing out large amounts of money?
Trust him to payout lots of money to the right people.
Why bloomberg will lose:
He has no following or followers.
Psst .
Doomberg hates young male Minority People of Color. He blames them for all the violent Crime and there is Audio and Video to prove it.
Be sure to let your Liberal Friends know it as soon as Doomberg takes the lead.
Good point. I had not thought of that.
If instead Bernie prevails as the candidate, the Democrat/Left Party will get crushed (and likely lose the House).
Couldn't happen to a "nicer" America/American-hating Party like the Democrat/Left Party!
