^^^ This right here.
“It’s not Trump’s Pentagon, it’s still Mattis’s.”
How do you figure that? I think you are operating under some bad information.
Yeah. That side of the scandal that is Ukraine has yet to be fully developed. I guess it is coming now that the charade of Impeachment V.1 has concluded...for the moment.
I wouldn't trust Vindman with anything more.
In the Marine Corps, being able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is a basic officer commissioning requirement. There are officer (and enlisted) MOSs that have higher security clearance requirements but if you cannot obtain a Secret clearance or, more importantly, you lose your security clearance, you are done as an officer. There are no officer MOSs that do not require some sort of security clearance.
I assume there is a similar requirement in the Army.
Not for long. I suspect an alternate is getting some good news shortly. His selection to attend occurred a year or two ago, and usually meant that the big army saw potential for him at O6 and beyond. Of course, there may have been some “good ‘ol boy” intervention to get him a slot if he has/had a patron saint.
He may have asked for a deferment to continue his NSC gig. However, with at least some bad paper in his file (a nuked OER, Relief for Cause or Letter of Reprimand, etc...) his career upward mobility is likely irreparably damaged. He’s likely to be passed over for O6, and if he’s smart he’d cash out now and go on book tours while he’s still in his 15 minutes. He will never command troops again, but that didn’t appear to be a career goal anyway. So, that’s some good news.
Or, he can report to Carlisle Barracks this summer where he will likely be shunned by his peers over the next year...
He will probably be a pariah there...
Isn't it? Is it 99% correct?
Yes, it’s the same in the army. In OCS you start you security clearance paperwork at the same time you start the course.
Not even that I work at the Pentagon and you are FOS!
Must be the first US Army War College Transgender Studies student.
Vindman is going to have a big problem with clearance issues. When Trump came in there was a big upgrade to the regs concerning information dissemination. There are severe penalties now for mishandling FOUO now.
Yes, all my fellow officers and myself had Secret clearances. But, it’s not like I had the codes to the football or anything . . .
