I think it's even more likely that the high command will leave the orders in place.

Why would you think that? If Obama wanted him gone when he was President, he'd be lucky to get out without prison time.

It's not Trump's Pentagon, it's still Mattis's. People there will take steps like this just to show their disdain for the President.

That guy who argued about that Navy Seal's trident is gone.

There are a lot of “mights” in the preceding paragraphs, so I am probably wrong.

You have gotten it right. He is not going to be a Colonel, so there's no upside for him to go to the AWC. His future is on the political side and he went over to that dark side before he went to the NSC, probably before. We don't need people like him in uniform.

Thanks for the interesting analysis.

The bottom line for me is that even if I was on Vindman's side of the Swamp, I wouldn't want a guy working for me who had already stabbed one boss in the back. But then, I'm not a Swampdweller.

Yes completely agree. Wouldn’t call it a blanket party though. I take it you served? I did 21 years active and reserve myself both enlisted and officer. Started in the Marines and retired from the Army.

Someone should tell Kurt Schlichter about this assignment. He is a graduate of the Army War College.

Sending him here should put him on the shelf for a while and should neutralize the news stories that he was fired as retribution.

Hell, sending him to the Infantry School at Fort Benning charged with managing the underwear supply would do that.

I somehow believe that this venue will be cancelled or changed by the high command.

Since he has already been approved, he will likely be allowed to attend, but even he should understand that he can never be promoted to full Colonel or given a meaningful command. He drew negative attention to himself and thus became a liability for anyone who might have considered sponsoring his career. Retirement is his only viable path.

The board is a bunch of colonels. As I’ve said before, the field grade and especially the general officers are pretty much leftists. It’s a different army now.

He may go though he should not. His chances for promotion in the next four years are slim. Who ever picked him for this is wrong. Officers who step out of line at this point are usually career ended and passed over.

Waste of money to send him to war college.

I bet a lot he never sees the O-6 list.

He has surely already read the tea leaves. All that is left to leave is timing and that is up to him for now.

His military career is over. The school will ask him to step aside for another who does have a military career future.

He is under investigation, and assigned back to Pentagon. No soldier who repeatedly violate command authority is qualified to attend US Army War College. Period.

I had forgotten about the knock on commitments of going to AWC. They gave him some time to do the right thing an get on with his life somewhere else. Getting him out of NSC was not irrational at all even considering his upcoming posting to AWC.

Why would he want to waste time with AWC knowing, if he is more rational than arrogant, he won’t be on the O-6 list with this whitehouse. His stock with the left wont be higher than it is now.

Got him dangling on a thread and it is fun to watch.

Agree. Once someone decides ro play the role of snake, especially on such thin justification as in this case, they will always be considered a snake (or potential snake) in the future. In addition, someone inside squealed to “the whistleblower,” and there is a big, flashing, neon arrow pointing at the LTC. Best to get rid of him.

Not sure his brother did anything wrong but he’s not only his brother, he is his twin brother. So he had to go, just to be sure. He is a lawyer, so he has a portable skill and will probably be olay in or out of the service.

As for THE LTC Vindman, I hope his security clearance is downgraded to Secret (minimum for an active duty officer)and he is taken off of all access lists. A National Security/Intel Analyst without a Top Secret (TS) clearance with Special Compartmented Intelligence (SCI) Code Word access is a prime candidate for Assistant Special Services Athletic Equipment Inventory Officer...in Diego Garcia...unaccompanied.

I agree with you and I have stated a few times that the things he did has adverse military cultural political impact. He will be marked and not favored.

+10!!A “blanket party” from an officer standpoint is the hidden political way of dealing with him. I know exactly how it works and it stinks. I have worked in a high level capacity technically for the Marines, Army and Navy at the SME level in a number of disciplines. I have been at the Pentagon level for around 15 years. Semper Fi!

Hopefully, it will be as you say and he will submit his papers.

If he does stay and attend AWC, things will be awkward. I imagine the promotion rate to COL for AWC graduates is darn near 100%. Wouldn’t be fun answering how you graduated from the AWC and managed to not be automatically selected for COL.

The regular Army selection rate for COL is reported to be 50%. So he could possibly go and serve in the field Army for a real change of pace.

Of course, once you are psssed over, the above zone selection rate is increasingly smaller single digit percentages with zero being reached pretty quickly. Then you take up residence in annual above-zone-not-selected-again Hell.

Ultimately, the officer either hits 30 years and can be forced into retirement or he/she manages to figure out they actually have been working fulltime for just a fraction of their paycheck (since the rest is guaranteed by having already become eligible for retirement).

(Of course, there are some that truly love the service and the only way they are ever leaving is either feet first or by being taken at gunpoint to the front gate and thrown off post. LTC Vindman does not strike me as being that kind of soldier.)

Even if he were to be promoted, there would be the issue of his likely downgraded security clearance and what kind of assignments an officer of his unique character is suited for.

The real covered up story is the twins’ older brother— who is a “investor” in Mossad’s version of In-Q-tel (front company see eye ehhh fake funding of.... techie companies. the inside the chia person who “invented” in-q-tell was a female zoology major and Brennan sychophant, who was slated to move into DNI job when Trump fired Coats— but Trump pulled her out and put in a real, combat snake eater- not Qatar living McRaven— that is Admiral Maguire- who put the skids on this a@@hole Vindman and his jag-officer twin both at NSC).

As I say the key to this.... is Ukraine NGO’s from the US getting USAID money, courtesy of Yovanovych. And the older Vindman was right in there raking off the bucks and distributing it to his “investors”— to include the twins. Nice little racket. The squealer heard Trumps’ inquiry into this huge corrupt racket and RAN to his queer pals Misko and Ciarammella (it is a gaggle of queers, btw- and secretive)- to protect his and his twin’s rice bowl from their older brother.

Vindman squealer’s brother was “vetting” Bolton’s book— no less. All of them part of Brennan’s idiotic operation. They are both.... toast, and not going to be “called” to War College. You know the drill, and you are correct— what scum.

One would hope that he is there to represent the concept of “treasonous behaviour” to the officer class...
