Defending Democracy Together: About Us (Bill Kristol NeverTrump organization)
Defending Democracy Together ^ | 2019 | N/A

Posted on 02/07/2020 7:52:00 PM PST by DoodleBob

“We believe in American exceptionalism,” reads the opening line of the 2016 Republican Party Platform. “We believe the United States of America is unlike any other nation on earth.”

Yet today, the Republican Party finds itself entertaining some of the same unsettling nativist and authoritarian impulses that characterized Europe throughout the 20th century. These ideals are antithetical to what it means to be a Republican, and what it means to be American.

Defending Democracy Together is a 501c4 advocacy organization created by lifelong conservatives and Republicans — many of whom have served in Republican administrations and write for conservative publications. We are dedicated to defending America’s democratic norms, values, and institutions and fighting for consistent conservative principles like rule of law, free trade, and expanding legal immigration.

Through research, education and grassroots activism, Defending Democracy Together is fighting abuses of power that threaten to undermine the integrity of U.S. elections, federal agencies, and the Republican Party as a whole. We aim to elevate voices across the conservative political spectrum who advocate for these principles. We hope Americans on the Left, Right, and Center will join us.

I don't know what’s “wrong” with what I posted. The initial post on this thread is just the intro page of the website for one of Bill Kristol’s stupid political hack groups. I checked the web page and found nothing more than a list or the group’s leaders and a link for donations. There’s also a link to a Facebook page where the most recent post is from early November, and a Twitter page with the same posting history.

I’m not complaining, but nothing about this organization is terribly newsworthy today.

For years a consistently reliable test to read which side of the them-versus-us cleft that would-be conservatives actually live on is the moral imperative of abortion. I have no doubt virtually all of these political jackals of Defending Democracy Together fall on the bloody side.

I think we should add a new test: where did these people stand on the issue of investigating all venality in Ukraine? It is clear that many rinos in the Senate have "put down their spears" and will continue to turn a blind eye to this rank corruption.

This corruption, described by Peter Schweitzer, is likely so persuasive that it poses an existential threat to the Republican Party. The hypocrisy of investigating only Joe Biden but no Republican is so glaring that it will leave the base as deflated in 2020 or 2022 as it was in 2008 and 2018, and for very much the same reason. The Democrats for their part have never been troubled about being hypocrites.

The rule of opposites:

Whenever an organization has “democracy” in their name they are opposed to democracy.

Plus, Kristol is a follower of Leo Strauss—Leo Strauss _hated_ democracy and believed in Plato’s “Noble Lie”.

Of course, folks here know Kristol is a liar, and Kristol’s lies aren’t noble ones.

“but nothing about this organization is terribly newsworthy today”

other than the fact that Kristo’s PAC was running vicious TV ads in blue states with GOP Senators up for re-election, trying to intimidate and bully those Senators in turning against President Trump ... that is, Kristol has now launched attacks against not just President Trump, but the GOP as a whole ... I’d say that’s damn newsworthy!

Kristol continues to have delusions of adequacy.

What a waste of oxygen and planetary assets!

Bill Kristol has lost any credibility he might have once possessed. The rise and fall of the Weekly Standard is a microcosm of his entire career.
