Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) made clear in an interview with The Atlantic on Wednesday that he will not vote for President Trump's re-election in November.
Driving the news: Romney sent shockwaves through Washington after announcing he would vote to convict Trump in the impeachment trial — becoming the only Senate Republican to break ranks and vote for the president's removal from office.
"The president delayed funds for an American ally at war with Russian invaders," Romney said in a speech on the Senate floor. "The president's purpose was personal and political. Accordingly, the president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust." Yes, but: Romney also stated that "under no circumstances" would he vote for Sens. Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren, who could face off against Trump in the general election.
Romney wrote in his wife's name on the ballot in 2016. "She’ll probably get [a] second vote," he told The Atlantic.

I think this scenario is far fetched. No dem candidate can come close to beating Trump one on one. One on one Romney can't come close to beating Trump.
BUT if there is a Dem candidate like Bernie Sanders and Romney decides to run independent with the DNC's blessing and money then between them they may shave enough electoral votes from Trump not necessarily with the goal of beating him but simply to be able to say for 4 years that he barely won the last election and that he doesn't have a mandate to do what he wants. That won't stop Trump but it will give them something to crow about.
Romney's bitter he lost the White House and Trump won. Romney's offended by Trump's brash style and personal manner.
That Romney is announcing this far out he won't vote for Trump's reelection says he doesn't believe in redemption and puts the lie to his faith-based moral justification for his vote to remove.
This is the same man who attacked Trump during 2016, then went hat-in-hand looking for the Secretary of State job, then asked Trump's support in his bid for US Senate.

It’s not going to be Romney. The first two rounds of the Rat convention will end up with no candidate getting the majority of votes. It will then go to a brokered convention and Bloomberg will buy the candidacy for himself or Hillary.
