Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, the only Republican to vote to convict President Trump on abuse of power during the impeachment trial this week, said he expects he'll face "unimaginable" consequences for breaking with his party.
"I don't know what they’ll be, there's some I know," Romney said in an interview released by New York Times's "Daily" podcast Thursday, when asked what consequences he anticipates from the decision.
"I know they'll be consequence and I just have to recognize that and do what you think is right," Romney added.

"Not voting my conscience in order for me to have a better political and personal benefit would subject my own conscience to its censure," Romney said, on his decision to break from his party.
"So I just, I don't have a choice there. This for me is fundamental to my oath to God and fundamental to how our country must work, which is people have to be seen as honest in fulfilling the oath that they take," he said.

I never quite understood this 'be seen' -> it's the same with campaign finance and the 'appearance of.'
It's not that I don't get the meaning ... but in this case coming from Romney, why is he focused on how he's seen? I continue to think this is a man who lies to himself and also believes his own lies ... who takes his thinking chatter as the word of God, and who identifies not his pure being with God, but the chatter of one of his body's organs.
It's quite possible to have delusions that don't make one attempt to start a cult and kill everyone, or run around like a lunatic. Many sociopaths, most in fact, never do any real harm or cause any real drama in the world outside their relationships - but they are sociopathic none the less.
I think Mitt is simply delusional - in a way that would make him totally harmless except that his delusion, in his position, has consequences.
He doesn't just think he's a son of God, he thinks he's a Son of God. Perhaps not Jesus or even a Prophet -> but certainly chosen for grand things. But his life has turned into nothing grand. There is nothing wrong with this, except that I think the cognitive dissonance it has caused makes him seek out a special place. And with this vote -> isn't he special!
But it's all a fantasy. Sorry Mitt -> you're just Mitt. Maybe you'd be truly happy for the first time in your life if you just accepted that.

He’s going to keel over from all the dopamine his system is producing. Mitt could die from trying to hard to perform a sex act on himself or from an overdose on his own stomach gas. This was the best the GOP could do in 2012, and he actually could have won. They were ready to shove Jeb down our throats after that. Thank God for Donald Trump.
