With the weeks-long impeachment trial ending Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is wasting no time turning the chamber's focus back to his self-professed top priority: confirming judicial nominations.
McConnell teed up five judicial nominations for votes on the Senate floor as the chamber wrapped up its work for the week.
The Senate is expected to take its first procedural vote on the slate Monday evening, when Republicans will need a simple majority to end the debate on Andrew Brasher's nomination to be a judge on the Eleventh Circuit.
Once Brasher is confirmed, the Senate will turn to the nominations of Joshua Kindred, Matthew Schelp, Joshua Kness and Philip Halpern, all of whom have been picked to be U.S. district judges.
The Senate could easily fit all five nominations into its schedule for next week.
Under a rules change enacted last year, district court nominees only need an additional two hours of debate once they overcome an initial procedural hurdle.
The Senate has confirmed 187 judicial nominees for President Trump since he took office, including two Supreme Court picks.
If all five are confirmed, that would bring the total number of Trump judicial nominees confirmed since 2017 to 192.

I agree!!!!!
Good. Go back to work for the American people. Bravo, McConnell!
Its ALL Mitch and Graham. From kavanaugh to gorsuch to 150 plus fed judges ...
Just to be clear, it’s not that most of the membership of the Federalist Society has been confirmed as judges (there are tens of thousands of us members!), but that moat of the nominees have been members.
Aaaah! Good to know.
When I do the short judge bios, I use the "judges" pages on Wikipedia.
It's fairly reliable for indicating a "Federalist Society" membership - but I started noticing that there can be what I was calling "affiliates" - jurists who made presentations/talks before the Society, or had been members in the past, or were associated in some way.
That explains things. I knew there were chapters in many, many cities - but was unaware of the extent of the membership.
I do know that Democrat senators on the Judiciary committee get bent out of shape if they catch a whiff of Federalist Society ties in a judicial candidate.
Standard question on their interrogation sheets. The DemoCommies have replaced the ""Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party of the United States?" with ""Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Federalist Society?"
Not 100% accurate, but close enough for most of my purposes.
I love it when he turns into the snapping turtle!!!
This may been the democrats biggest achievement of the impeachement hoax....delaying judicial confirmations by a month!
I feel your pain. Here’s more.
That would be a waste of time because the House has to impeach first, and the Senate will need 67 votes to convict. Thats not going to happen.
Go for the jugular.
“You would almost think McConnell is pissed.”
Except he’s grinning a lot lately....
Mitch is no friend of Trump’s. A lot of Trump’s bad department heads are bad compromises because Mitch’s Senate wouldn’t have approved good and honest nominees.
Its always raining on the Eeyores ! Gloom, despair, and agony. Deep dark depression, excessive misery...
Its fitting that Eeyore is a jackass !
It really is a fantastic organization, and relatively new as well -- didn't even exist until 1982. Hard to overstate its impact on the conservative movement, though.
One of the rather unique thing about it is that the National Convention very often has speakers with whom we do not generally agree. They are always treated respectfully, ideas are discussed, etc.. Every single current member of the Supreme Court has spoken at a Federalist Society event. It helps sharpen arguments, clarify positions, etc..
Right now, the left is trying to get the federal Judicial Code of Conduct to make it an ethical violation for judges to belong to the Federalist Society.
Go Mitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ruth will hang on until the election. Then, they will reveal she has been dead for nearly a year.
Don’t give McConnell a pass. He was praising Robert Mueller, talking about Russia, and is as bad as Democrats on spending.
Concur.
