Not sure of the others, but my mutations developed during cancer. It also changed my dna sequence - which was corrected thru chemo.
But, I don’t think all cancers can be genetically tested for. With mine and others with my type - it be tested in advance for.

It’s why people can say I smoked 80 years and didn’t get cancer. That does NOT mean smoking can’t cause cancer. And why you can get lung cancer but never smoked in your life.

Exactly. This is where the new immunotherapy treatments come in. After chemo and radiation hopefully does it’s job, the immunotherapy drug works with the immune system to target hidden cancer cells without damaging healthy cells.

Prayers for Rush! My aunt beat stage 4 lung cancer 5 years ago and is doing well. Nothing is impossible for our God, the divine Healer.
One of God’s greatest gifts is hope.
I am hoping Rush’s lung cancer will be a type that responds to one of the new immunotherapies.
Oh, most cant be tested for..but there are some that can. And even if you have the genetic predispostion such as BRCA issue..doesn’t mean you will get cancer.
I say frequently..know your body and your symptoms....and don’t be afraid to order your own lab tests from places like Direct Labs if you can’t get a Dr to do it.
I ordered a woman’s work up and found something that I had never been told I had. I don’t think it is often tested. It could explain some things that I had always attributed to thalessemia.
Know your baselines so that you know when your levels are out of whack for you.
I was numb when he made this announcement on the air today. Devastated. I will be praying for him every day.

So very important. My husband and I draw strength from each other we never knew we had. I try to be nothing but positive around him. Rush needs to have a fighting spirit. With love and prayers and a good team of doctors he will get through this.
Agree! I made excuses for my symptoms. But, even still it was not caught until it was out of control. But, this is the case for anyone with AML. We all have the same story. It brews in the bone marrow. So it won’t show till it moves to the peripheral blood to show on the blood tests. Then it’s bad. Real bad. So, there’s just no way to know.
Prayers being said for Rush daily.
Once it’s in the peripheral blood, most have only 2-3 weeks to live.
I’m not sure that’s a good idea. I think Rush truly enjoys his job and looks forward to his time in front of the mike. If he had nothing to plan on and look forward to, his will to live might go away.
