Longtime influential conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh announced on his show Monday he was diagnosed with "advanced lung cancer," a shocking announcement in which he said he will miss shows for treatment.
This day has been one of the most difficult days in recent memory, for me, because Ive known this moment was coming, Limbaugh said. Im sure that you all know by now that I really dont like talking about myself and I dont like making things about me
one thing that I know, that has happened over the 31-plus years of this program is that there has been an incredible bond that had developed between all of you and me.

‘When when when is this disease from the lowest bowels of hell going to be cured or at least controlled?’
in my more cynical moments I say this will happen when the medical establishment can find another cash cow that has been as huge as cancer treatment has been...a doctor, in a burst of candor, told me this...
Prayers up for Rush
Started coughing up blood at work.
It was a slow growing cancer.
They didnt know how long hed had it.
If anyone has a child that is dogging it on the basketball court, have him or her checked out.
Sometimes it isnt just laziness or lack of motivation.
Sometimes, its lung cancer.
He has taught us well to continue the fight no matter what happens.
Prayers to you Rush, our hero!
Good to hear from you, FRiend. Although of course today the circumstances are NOT good.
I was here by myself, but texting everyone I know when I learned about Rush's diagnosis (after I stopped shaking a bit). *Everyone* is in shock, and praying for our dear El Rushbo.
So thankful they got it!!
Great advice.
I’ve noticed Rush’s voice getting more and more gravelly over the years.
Someone said they’d noticed in the past 6 months....that his voice was almost unrecognizable.
As you age and hormone levels change your voice can change too. Lose weight, can affect voice, lose weight in the throat and tongue...and Rush did lose weight too as well as get older.
I don't know how heavily he smoked cigarettes, but I've gleaned from his comments over the years that he smoked heavily.
I haven’t listened to him in decades but I always wonder what life would be like after Rush. He became the firstest with the mostest and turned the world on its ear. There was no one saying what he was saying and he started the end of the media monopoly. He monetized conservatism which made it take off
I hope everything works out for him.
“The reason you rarely hear of stage 1, 2 or 3 is there are no symptoms in the early stages.”
The first symptom of lung cancer that my Dad noticed was numbness in his legs from the cancer that had metastasized to his lower spine.
I’ve listened to Rush since 1994. It’s always been in the back of my mind that this constant in my life cannot be forever. That didn’t make today any easier. Rush if you’re reading this, you can never know what you’ve meant to so many of us Deplorables. We are with you through this. 100%.
‘Formerly nicotine stained fingers has lead to still nicotine stained lungs.’
tar stained fingers and lungs would be more like it; nicotine is not carcinogenic, it is somewhat addictive and provides the pleasurable effects that causes people to smoke...
Sure if he actually spoke English. Just kidding but I remember when Rush first announced his hearing problem ORielly announced his own talk show on radio. Stuck with it for a while too.
Don Imus had Prostate Cancer. Lung Cancer is much more serious. Rush probably won’t be lung with us anymore :(
We are praying for you, Rush - hard. You have been a part of our family for 30 years and we can’t imagine a day without you. Our prayers include Catherine, of course. May God grant you both the stamina and grace to fight this battle.
He always showed pictures of him smoking a Cigar.
Crushing news. That’s all I can say right now.
My mom had lung cancer. She lived six days after diagnosis.
My dad had prostate cancer. He was actually killed by a side effect of his medications (though in retrospect that was probably God’s mercy considering what he was facing).
My SIL had breast cancer, she had a mastectomy, and had her Breast removed. Unfortunately the cancer came back and moved to her brain. She died of Breast cancer in 2000.
“Time for a medal of freedom for Rush”.
If anyone deserves it, he does.
