he hijacked national security and foreign policy to induce Ukraine to take actions to smear a prospective political opponent.

How can the President hijack foreign policy when it is the prerogative of the President to determine foreign policy? As for "smearing a prospective political opponent", do you mean like Hillary and the DNC commissioning the fake dossier from a British spy and Russian operatives to smear her prospective 2016 political opponent?

Capital punishment for a jaywalking ticket offense? That’s disproportionate.

Its just a bridge too far. The LAT can chuck it.

The LA Times were not at all concerned when obama and hillary cut a secret deal with Iraqi’s to run Port Canaveral container terminal.

LA Times, you want to talk about High Treason this is it:

“After an apparent Clinton pay-to-play operation, Barack Hussein Obama administration officials handed over control of Port Canaveral’s cargo container operations to the brother of Saddam Hussein’s chief WMD nuclear physicist, Dr. Jafar Dhia Jafar.”

When LA or San Fran is struck down for their sinfulness, don’t bother passing the hat in three-quarters of the country to help them out.

The LA SLIMES had a powerful franchise, at one time it looked like it could even capture the San Diego and Bay Area markets. Today, a pale and widely- disdained mere fraction of its former power. Why? Slanted news. What we now call fake news. And let’s never forget how the paper covered up -and is STILL covering up- for Obama with his muslim terrioristas meetings as well as his ineligibility. We never read it

And O’Donnell thinks it’s the Senate that is the flaw in the system? Who’d ever take the LA Times ed page seriously again?

Congress can spend any amount of money on anything that is pleases.

The only thing that puts a check on their spending is what they can get the voters to swallow.

he engaged in high crimes and misdemeanors of exactly the sort the founders had in mind when they created the impeachment process in the U.S. Constitution.

False - No he did not.

Congress voted to give $391 million to Ukraine, an ally that was at war, defending itself against Russia. But Trump withheld that money in a clear violation — an illegal violation — of Congress’ express wishes.

False again. The aid was in fact distributed within the fiscal year with in which it was mandated.

but because he hoped to extort from Ukraine’s president what he called “a favor” in return for the money — the announcement of an investigation into groundless accusations against former Vice President Joe Biden that he believed could be useful to him in winning reelection.

More falsehoods - the "favor" was in relation to the investigation into Crowdstrike. The accusations against Joe Biden were and are hardly groundless and given it was being widely discussed and reported just before the call took place, it only stands to reason it would be mentioned - hardly controversial. After it was learned Trump breached the subject in the call, it is remarkable how news organizations cannot recall even their own reporting in order to call it "groundless."

In other words, he hijacked national security and foreign policy to induce Ukraine to take actions to smear a prospective political opponent. He abused the power of his office to benefit himself personally. Then, as the second article of impeachment makes clear, he sought to stonewall the investigation by refusing to release documents and ordering his subordinates not to testify in the House inquiry.

No, more like, in other words, the LA Times Editorial Board is stupid, clueless, or dishonest, or a combination thereof, since reality and fact have no resemblance to anything written in this editorial.

>>groundless accusations against former Vice President Joe Biden<<

I guess they think if they just keep saying that it means it’s true.

Not because Trump is a Republican. Not because of his conservative policies. Not as a way to nullify the outcome of the 2016 election

These are the exact reasons for the impeachment.
