On Friday, former Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.), a successful entrepreneur who announced his run for president way back in June 2017, dropped out of the 2020 presidential race in an attempt to boost ostensible moderates in their battle to prevent an outright socialist from taking the Democratic nomination.
"Today, 2020 Presidential candidate John Delaney announces his decision to withdraw from the 2020 race. This decision is informed by internal analyses indicating Johns support is not sufficient to meet the 15% viability in a material number of caucus precincts, but sufficient enough to cause other moderate candidates to not to make the viability threshold, especially in rural areas where John has campaigned harder than anyone," the campaign announced in a statement. "He strongly believes the Democratic Party should advance candidates with progressive values on the big issues of our time, but who are committed to governing with pragmatic, fact-based, bipartisan solutions."

So fewer rats will make it to Iowa in 2020 than GOPers who made it to Iowa in 2016.
Whod da thunk that last summer when there were like 792 rats in the race?
who? lol
Hogwash!
Stunning! This completely shakes up the dem presidential field!
Uh wait, who is Delaney?
Im enjoying this! These dumb RATs have spent decades indoctrinating the American people to socialism, and now theyre afraid of a man who is openly advocating it and getting a ton of support in the presidential race. The Berniebots wont be placated this time if Comrade Sanders is given the shaft again!
Reminds me of Blackadder when he runs for Parliament and there is only one voter in his constituency.
So let me get this straight. This guy has spent the last 3 YEARS running and then drops out 3 DAYS before the first votes are cast.
You cant tell me hes not being paid off.
Only question is who: The DNC? Soros? Bloomy? Burisma?
He was stuck at 1% forever. It wasn’t like his staying in or dropping out would affect anything.
The party is afraid of Bernie because he can’t be trusted to toe the party line. Between elections he is an independent. He may be a Democrat now, but once he goes down in defeat, he will become an independent again.
This clown grew up in my hometown of Wood-Ridge, NJ and I know the family in passing. He talks moderate, but hes just as left wing as the rest of the kooks.
I’d like to know which presidential candidate breaks with any other one on any issue... so how could anyone be called “moderate”?
"other moderate candidates" ... like who exactly? I don't think President Bennet and President Gabbard are going to get a big boost from President Delaney dropping out.
Never heard of him. Didn’t know he was a candidate. So my question is: how many donations did his campaign receive, how much? What happens to the money now? For the life of me, I do not understand how donors can allow their money go to known losers. Political donor class are a strange lot!!!!!
Delaney was actually a pretty good candidate even in 2016 but he was one of three immediate casualties when Hillary decided with the DNC to rid the field of everyone except Bernie.
She thought Bernie would be easy to knock off— which should have been the first warning of how bad her campaign was.
“On Friday, former Rep. John Delaney (D-Md.), dropped out of the 2020 presidential race”
i wonder how many people even knew he was still in the race ...
Bernie vs Elizabeth ... Tweedle-dee vs Tweedle-dum, I’m rooting for the ‘write-in’ vote that is for a candidate to named later who is NOT Michelle or Hillary! Good thing I’m not compelled to sit for hours with these rabid LEFTist!
Not me. I thought he'd dropped out months ago. It's an egotistic vanity for him to think he would affect the caucuses in any way.
Interestingly Delaney is getting out of the race to stop Bernie. The DNC is letting Bloomberg in the debate to stop Bernie.
If the goal is a deadlocked convention (to nominate Hillary or Michelle O.) this may be the right strategy. Apparently Bernie figures to win NH; if he also wins IA he may be unstoppable.
