And so it comes down to Lisa Murkowski in the end. Will the vote on witnesses end in a 50-50 tie, or will Republicans have a narrow majority to carry the day toward a swift conclusion of Donald Trumps Senate trial? Earlier this morning, CNNs Manu Raju reported that Mitt Romney had decided to vote for witnesses and documents to extend the House investigation:

The Dems want to regain control of the Senate before RBG croaks. Confirmations are a political weapon.
The trap has been getting the Rep senators to vote on witnesses and conviction. The longer the trial goes on, the more damaging votes for Reps.

I thought Jay Sekalow made clear that if they call Bolton he was going to call witnesses he wants. Sounded to me like he was ready to drag it before the courts.
