Republican Sen. Pat Toomey is discussing an idea for the ongoing impeachment trial of President Donald Trump that would allow each party to call one witness to testify.
According to The Washington Post, the lawmaker from Pennsylvania has brought up his "one-for-one" proposal with Republican colleagues, including Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah.
Romney is one of a handful of senators who is on the fence about calling witnesses for the trial. Most Republicans are publicly opposed to having witnesses testify and would like the trial, which kicked off more than a week ago, to come to a swift end.

They can “call” for a witness. Doesn’t mean they would show up. Likely they get Bolton in the hearing, then have whoever is called by the Trump team claim the 5th and not show up.
Or call Biden or Schiff or ...
I was opposed to witnesses. Hunter will plead the 5th.
But I am starting to want to see what Bolton says under oath. He is leaking everything in his book.He can’t do much more damage than what is going to come out in the book. Get him under oath to see what he says.

Toomey is one of the RINO-iest RINOS to ever walk this continent. No surprises here. He only keeps getting elected because his opponent is always some far-out Leftist whacko.
About Thursday, McConnell should call for the trial vote and end this travesty.
It looks like the Founders made a huge mistake in not mandating a two-thirds vote requirement for impeachment in the House.

You mean, Trump invoke executive privilege and not let them testify. Goes to court, and since there is no evidence of a crime, court will rule 5-4 or 6-3 for Trump.
That is the problem. No matter who we would call, the would plead the 5th, ala Cheryl Mills and Lois Lerner.
Frankly, I’m more concerned with Roberts. Isn’t he the arbiter of the questions?
Sense the Democrats have all ready have had 18 witnesses and the Republicans none the should one for one seems unfair. Give us 10 and you take zero and let’s let it go at that.
I voted for Toomey the first time around and never since. I don’t pull the lever for his opponent, but I don’t vote for him.
The idiot GOP will call Bolon as thier witness. The rats will call someone that will cause ten more to have to be called. This one for one is a BS move to open the floodgates. No witnesses.

2. President Trump should be acquitted on principle if Schiff and Nadler refuse to hand over an unredacted transcript of the testimony of every witness who has already testified.
If the GOP caves on either of these points, I could easily see myself voted for Donald Trump in November, then voting for third-party candidates in every other race on the ballot.
