The United States is arranging a charter flight on Sunday to bring its citizens and diplomats back from the Chinese city of Wuhan, epicenter of the outbreak of a new coronavirus, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.
The plane, with around 230 people, will carry diplomats from the U.S. consulate as well as U.S. citizens and their families, the Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the operation.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing said that on Thursday, the State Department had ordered the departure of family members and all U.S. government employees at its Wuhan consulate, but declined to comment on the report that other U.S. citizens would be evacuated from the city.

In fact, now that word has gotten out, the CDC should announce what they’re going to do with these people.
My suspicion is that they will ask everyone to ‘promise’ to stay in their homes.
True.
Absolutely not my position.
I’m in favor of getting them out. But they have to be quarantined.
I’d really like to see the CDC make a public announcement that they are going to do that.
Unfortunately, I just don’t see a mandatory quarantine for 230 people is going to happen
Just leave them there, to die????
Unreal.
I have no doubt they will be tested and those who test positive will be diverted for medical treatment.
in what way??
One test upon arrival isn’t enough. You may not test positive right away if you’re asymptomatic. And anyone who tests positive has come into contact with others on the plane. They have to be quarantined
Me either.
When was a kid, when one of us came down with them “childhood illnesses, the Moms would have a “party” to get it over with...
Which university is your medical degree from?
How about a hospital ship? Are those still around?
Everyone associated with this “flight/flights” must be quarantined.
Right now, our government is “screening” people at several airports by asking questions and taking people’s temperature. Two big problems:
1. People lie 2. Not everyone who has this disease presents with a fever. Now they are seeing people who don’t have fevers until they become very ill.
So, we aren’t being very well protected on that front.
We’re in early stages, and it’s too easy to take a laissez-faire attitude, because you don’t want to offend or appear to take away someone’s freedom of movement.
And the Chinese say, “Bwahaha—excellent!”
How would you like to be the flight crew on that plane?
I heard the incubation period is 2 weeks or less. Quarantine for that period and if ok then release.
In case you haven’t noticed over the last 30 years we have been offshoring industries to China with the aid of our own Free Traitors. Were you born yesterday?
This isn’t Canada. It believe it’s against the law there.
