Coronavirus is quite common in dogs - thats likely the vaccine thats been worked on. There is no vaccine for this, and wont be for over a year.
Nope. They’re at work on a vaccine for Wuhan coronavirus. They specialize in mRNA vaccines.
Wonder why you find this hard to believe?
And two more, it seems. Try a search engine.
Oh and there are lots of corona viruse, the common cold is one.
Did you catch this line in the ping text?
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
Another set of data had 2017-2018 with 90,000 people hospitalized for the flu, and 9,000 dead. So then I thought THAT was the mortality rate (10%)
Same freeper said I still wasn't quite there. Mortality rate is based on ALL cases, not just hospitilazation. They said estimate 10% of the population gets the flu. In the USA that would be about 30 million got the flu. So a mortality rate of 0.3%.
Yeah - you don’t shut down cities far larger than New York City over 1400 people getting a typical virus.
Then the mortality rate will drop from 3% to 0.3% or 0.03%

#The Russian Embassy has sent out multiple tweets over the last few days or so saying Good night, America. One appears to show a naked body floating in a pool.
We are under attack, and #MidnightMoscowMitch is complicit.

Agree
While not time to act, time to prepare and time to pay close attention to news reports of numbers.
The next ten days are critical window if this gets nasty. After that, panic may begin in regions.
Dude, not every case of the flu gets hospitalized, not even close. You are conflating hospitalizations with infections.
Why would mortality rate decrease if the number of people infected increases?
Are you assuming the number of dead didn’t change?
Mortality rate is a percentage of infected, therefore, as the# infected increases, so does the # of dead. It’s a radio.
Then the same should hold true for reported cases in China, ya?
Yes, it shows them. Look again.
Not anytime real soon and 30% of patients reportedly are not showing any immune system response at all.
I would agree but for the fact that this is a new event - new disease they are monitoring closely, so they are counting infected, not hospitalizations (although those numbers are likely very similar). If it were a “normal” run-of-the-mill outbreak of something like the flu, then there would be a lot of unreported cases.
In short, you can’t use the deaths/hospitalizations for the flu to calculate the mortality rate, but you can use it right now for the Corona Virus since almost every known or suspected case is going to be hospitalized/quarantined.
Also, in general many people that die from the flu wouldn’t have, had they sought medical help sooner. We don’t know how many of the reported deaths in China are of this sort, or if they died anyway even after medical intervention. If anything, that tilts the scales in the direction of even higher lethality for the Corona Virus. :(
Not sure if the coronovirus has the same attributes or not.
We’re going to need a bigger map!
Woooooo Whooooo we have at least one Chinese survivor. Now why was he still wearing a mask ? Would he not be cured ? Would he not have antibodies now ?
