A struggling Minnesota church is asking its older parishioners to leave in hopes of making it more attractive to young families.
Grove United Methodist Church in the St. Paul suburb of Cottage Grove is closing in June, with plans to relaunch in November. The present members, most of them over 60 years old, will be invited to worship elsewhere, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported. The church is asking that they stay away for two years, then consult the pastor about reapplying.
I pray for this church, getting through this age-discrimination thing, William Gackstetter said at church on a recent Sunday as the gray-haired heads around him nodded in agreement. But church officials said the congregation needs a reset and the best way is to appeal to younger people.

Marketing!!
I agree. Wow.
LOL!!
Motto: Open doors, open hearts - but go away.
Just get a “worship band” that plays bad music at 90 decibels, that should do it. Another possibility would be to make all your worship leaders get tattoos, piercings, and bones through their noses and spools in their ears.
Wh9mdomthe6 think funds the church?
It isn’t satire?
Dear God, reality is giving the Babylon Bee a run for it’s money.
I’m gobsmacked.
Sorry. Who do they think funds the church?
WWJD?
I dont understand whats happened to the churches. They seem more obsessed with being some sort of paid for community and not spreading the mission of God.
Maybe thats because theyre all socialist missions now.
They can “reapply” after 2 years?
No way would I even walk into a church that says crap like that!
You may be closer than you think. The old folks were probably too influenced by the Bible.
Why do older people read the Bible so much?
They are cramming for finals.
I’ll bet the jerks are liberals who want the Church to be attractive to the trans crowd... I’ve got a flash for them... the hype about there being so many sexually liberated progressives just waiting to ‘go to church’ is a lie.
First, there aren’t that many of ‘em....
Its a fake church. Run!
i find at our church its the gray hairs like me at the contemporary service and the younger folk go mostly to the traditional service
I understand the need to attract younger people but wow...telling old people that they need to stay away? I’m hoping it’s just a biased way of reporting it.
There are a lot of churches in my area that are like this and they offer Starbucks coffee at a serving counter.
I, unfortunately, have to go to one of these worship houses to vote.
That will kill the church for sure. Actually seen that happen.
The OK Boomer criminally insane maniacs are on the march.
What kind of bizarre thinking led to this conclusion?? Id venture a guess, but Im going to hold my judgement.
