New York’s top law enforcement official, Attorney General Letitia James, is going after . . . law enforcement.
On Monday, James said she’s probing the NYPD’s fare-evasion policing for racial bias. It’s a disgraceful pander.
“If NYers have been targeted because of the color of their skin, we will not hesitate to take legal action,” she tweeted. Well, sure: If cops were singling out minorities, she’d be remiss not to act. Yet there’s no evidence — none — of such targeting.
From October 2017 to June 2019, James notes, minorities got 70% of the fare-evasion summonses and accounted for 90% of arrests, though they’re only 52% of the wider population. But this tells you nothing unless you determine what percentage of farebeaters they are: James should have determined that before announcing any wider investigation.
After all, 2018 crime stats show that minorities made up 93% of the suspects in murder cases, 81% in rapes, 92% in robberies and 80% in misdemeanors. Is James suggesting that cops are racists for making those arrests? Does she want officers to stop making them?
Her office also points to allegations of bias in a court case, but those also amount to little: It’s four cops claiming a superior ordered them to focus on minorities . . . back from 2011 to 2015. A probe found the charges “meritless” — and even if they were true, one official’s orders are a far different thing from actual NYPD policy.
No, the AG’s simply grandstanding, trying to capitalize on the anti-policing insanity that’s triggered a raft of soft-on-crime changes. Indeed, 95% of those accused of hopping turnstiles no longer get arrested but just issued summonses; DAs generally won’t even prosecute such cases.

Although most African Americans-—as the ones of FR-—are fine people, there is a segment that has a chip on their shoulder thinking white people are out to discriminate against them with “driving while black” and other methods.
Such people are prejudiced (pre-judging) the police and the average person, just as was done in a widespread manner against black people in the days of the Dixiecrat Dems, KKK (mostly Dems) and biased police. Those days do not have to be perpetuated today by continuing suspicion.
If a car in the distance is speeding and weaving in the lanes and an officer sees that, when he comes up to the driver’s side window is he supposed to say “Oh, gosh, I’m sorry, sir,I didn’t see you were black” and let them go?
For drug deals, gang members making a transfer of stolen guns, robberies and other crimes is the officer supposed to drop the whole thing when he remembers that statistically too many persons of color have already been stopped in this neighborhood this month? Just walk past the crime and ignore it? Maybe give up patrolling completely?
Now police are the ones under suspicion before they do anything wrong.
This smacks of the same argument we hear that there are a disproportionately high number of blacks in prisons. Well, the elephant in the room is that blacks commit proportionately more crimes than whites. A long time ago there was a TV debate between Orin Hatch (pro-gun) and Jesse Jackson (anti-gun). Jesse was giving the usually argument that blacks are killed with guns more than whites. Orin looked at Jesse and said: "If you remove murders by blacks between the age of 17 and 30 from the US statistics, the US would have a lower murder rate than Switzerland." Jesse's response: crickets.
How does one scream "bias" when the statistics prove the statement true?
Although I’m in TN, not NYC, it’s easy for me to guess accurately who most of the fare beaters are: the lowest of the low, those who urinate and defecate in the cars, vandalize the cars, and generally make your essential transport system nearly unusable for the people who absolutely need it for commuting and doing their daily errands. After all, in Knoxville, TN, it’s easy and pretty much necessary to get around by car, while in NYC, it’s often a devil to do so and frightfully expensive, meaning you have to rely on public transit.
Blacks are 13% of the US population but commit 51% of the murders, which means they should be 51% of the people on death row, but they aren’t because of racism against murderers who aren’t black.

I no longer work in Manhattan so to be honest, almost Everything bad that has happened under deblasio (piece of garbage) and his lesbian wife (???) has not affected me at all.
for my friends and family, well not yet but THEY are under the threat of a possible attack in Manhattan all the time now that there is NO BAIL.
None of obam’s sons are coming to the south shore of staten island to cause trouble unless they want to end up in a hearse owned by an Italian funeral home.
But I think within 10 or so years they will somehow spread their disease here too and i will be gone before that.
Thank God, as I’ve said before, no one ever built a subway or train attached to the Verrazano to get to Staten Island fro the other filthy boroughs.

My dad was an NYC cop in the 1960s and 1970s, back then it was tough but today I can’t even imagine the absolute hell. One of my friends says he knows a guy who quit after only 2 years on the force, said it was the worst job he ever had. I can only imagine being the leftist hell it is today.
Part of the ongoing and decades old attempt to place blacks above the Law and free of the consequences of their actions. If you don’t commit crimes you won’t have a problem, simple as that.
What are those numbers if you only include males between the ages of 15 and 25?

Now I’m going to be a sadist and really rub it in. Here in TN we have shall issue CCW with no limit on magazine capacity and all weapons that are allowed by Federal law are legal here. No need to get any kind of purchase permit and I can buy all the ammo I want by mail order. Indeed, I recently got 1,000 rounds of .223 for an AR I’d just purchased, along with five 30 rd. magazines. We also don’t have a state income fax and recently amended our constitution to prohibit one. Our governor and both of our US Senators are Republicans and our junior Senator, Marsha Blackburn, got her start by leading a successful effort to defeat a state income tax.
