‘You’re a bunch of dopes and babies’: Inside Trump’s stunning tirade against generals
Washington Compost ^ | Jan 17, 2020 | Carol Leonnig, Philip Rucker

There is no more sacred room for military officers than 2E924 of the Pentagon, a windowless and secure vault where the Joint Chiefs of Staff meet regularly to wrestle with classified matters. Its more common name is “the Tank.” The Tank resembles a small corporate boardroom, with a gleaming golden oak table, leather swivel armchairs and other mid-century stylings. Inside its walls, flag officers observe a reverence and decorum for the wrenching decisions that have been made there.

Hanging prominently on one of the walls is The Peacemakers, a painting that depicts an 1865 Civil War strategy session with President Abraham Lincoln and his three service chiefs — Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant, Major General William Tecumseh Sherman, and Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter. One hundred fifty-two years after Lincoln hatched plans to preserve the Union, President Trump’s advisers staged an intervention inside the Tank to try to preserve the world order....

Trump organized his unorthodox worldview under the simplistic banner of “America First,” but Mattis, Tillerson, and Cohn feared his proposals were rash, barely considered, and a danger to America’s superpower standing. They also felt that many of Trump’s impulsive ideas stemmed from his lack of familiarity with U.S. history and, even, where countries were located. To have a useful discussion with him, the trio agreed, they had to create a basic knowledge, a shared language....

“You’re all losers,” Trump said. “You don’t know how to win anymore.”

" Tillerson and their aides decided to use maps, graphics, and charts to tutor the president, figuring they would help keep him from getting bored."

Story time at the Washington post. What I don't understand is how anyone believes their stories.

Every flag officer we have saluted the transgenderizing of the military by the Kenyanesian Usurper. Those are HIS generals.

They are a bunch of dopes and babies.

Totally correct. Tried to shove it in right after the election because they were shocked and did not have time. Thanks to the new admin which promptly got rid of it.

The military and Department of State are stuck in a bullshiite paradigm of “Hearts and Minds” that was probably thought by the Soviets to weaken us. It didn’t work in Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq. All it has done has been to attrit the best soldiers on the planet. Thank God for Trump.

[[and, even, where countries were located.]]

Hey Wapo- Not that you’d ever noticed because your heads are so far up your butts- but here’s you beloved messiah Obama:

“When I meet with world leaders, what’s striking — whether it’s in Europe or here in Asia...” (As he spoke to Hawaiians)

“I’m here with the Girardo family here in St. Louis.” (Speaking via satellite while in Kansas)

“I’ve now been in 57 states — I think one left to go.”

“We’re the country that built the Intercontinental Railroad.”

“One such translator was an American of Haitian descent, representative of the extraordinary work that our men and women in uniform do all around the world — Navy Corpse-Man Christian Brossard.” he pronounced the ps in “Corpsman”

“It was also interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate. There’s a lot of — I don’t know what the term is in Austrian, wheeling and dealing.” (While speaking to Germans- Imagine if President Bush had said any of these things?)

“In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” (12 people died)

“No, no. I have been practicing...I bowled a 129. It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something.”

“On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.”

Trump has asked the troops how to win, because they know. They all say the same thing. Send in the entire US army and wreck the place...stop fighting boutique wars with “Special Forces”.

But politicians don’t like the optics of that. So we struggle forth with “rules of engagement” and “green initiatives”.

Short of that... leave. Short of supplying the world with Oxycontin, what possible interest do we have in Afghanistan?

Could you provide with some examples?

Uhhhh...not really so sacred and classified if they're blabbing to the whole world about it, is it?

The actual article is a hit piece meant to show President Trump in a very negative light. I do not think it succeeds because we all have grown so accustomed to this kind of crap that it no longer has the author’s desired effect.

[[Patton was right. MacArthur was right. Joe McCarthy was right.]]

No no no- obama said we have to find the enemy, and be nice to them- lead from behind- and soemoen in his admin i believe it was said that all we have to do is give them jobs, and they will like us- that they only hate us because they don’t have jobs-

Sadly some in the military- thought he was a genius- great military CIC- and that is why the world laughed at us before Trump came along and showed the world that we aren’t the week-kneed pacifists obama tried to turn us into!

POTUS was right!

Too bad he didn’t fire the Ophonybama “Perfumed Princes!”

I predict a general and VERY THOROUGH house-cleaning throughout the entire federal government the day after DJT is re-elected!

Amen Bro! Destroy/kill the enemy from the top level down to the grunt.

Patton was right. MacArthur was right. Joe McCarthy was right.

Find the enemy and destroy him. Otherwise, what’s the point? President Trump gets this.

This is like a Bob Woodward novel - you can call ie Swamp Historical Fiction.

Take rumors about confidential meetings, and flesh them out with 100% manufactured quotes, adjectives and emotions that fit the highly biased narrative one’s corporate masters are pushing.

They weren’t answering his core concerns. How do we win in Afghanistan, what would victory look like, and how do we get there. And if there is no victory that can be articulated, why are we there?

Two of those questions, what does victory look like and why are we there, are for him to answer, not his generals.

Everything Trump is reported as saying in those meetings was correct. The behavior of his supposed subordinates to try to educate him to become a globalist was ridiculous. The president is not asking our soldiers to become soldiers of fortune or mercenaries to “make a buck”. He is insisting that the fortune and lives of Americans not be wasted on foreign soil doing other countries work for them.
