A container with 23.94 tons of American chicken feet cleared Chinese customs Tuesday, potentially heralding the start of a new trading era between the two countries just days before they sign a long-awaited trade deal.
The chicken feet, or phoenix claws as they’re known in Chinese recipes, were inspected and approved for unloading by customs in Shanghai, the official Securities Times reported. The event marks the return of U.S. poultry meat to China five years after it was banned, it said.
China prohibited the import of all U.S. poultry products in 2015 in response to cases of avian flu in America. That stance changed last year as demand for alternative animal protein surged after the spread of deadly African swine fever slashed the country’s hog herds and reduced pork supplies.

They brought her mother over for a stay and went grocery shopping. She became angry that the frozen chickens were sold without the feet!...............
Chicken feet make AWESOME gelatin.
The gelatin is great for giving body to soups.
I’ve seen them for sale in a Maine Wal-Mart. They are called chicken paws.
Anyone who eats food imported from China is really rolling the dice. I don’t care if they were “inspected”—inspectors can be bribed. Which country has all these horrible plagues wiping out thousands? Which country manufactured pet treats which killed thousands of our beloved pets in this country?
Chicken feet? Well, it’s not going to affect most chicken cookers and eaters.... Southern folks know.

There's a certain store in my area that is frequented by Jamaican summer workers.
Always has frozen chicken feet in stock [pun intended]. 
Yep. Once upon a time I worked in the Meat Department at Walmart. Chicken feet were big sellers.

I think we're good - just as long as the Ching-lees don't adulterate these and ship them back to the US...
Some U.S. fish is shipped to China, processed there, and sent back here.
In a previous life, I became acquainted with an Australian trading company owner who grew wealthy swapping chicken feet from Australian slaughter houses with China for bamboo underwear and other intimate garments made from bamboo fiber.

Hmmm..... how time gets away
I visited a frozen food distribution warehouse in Statesville on numerous occasions. They shipped out the frozen chicken paws in 40 foot refrigerated containers virtually every day. They were packed in 40 pound boxes and loaded by hand to eliminate the wasted space of the wood skids.
Well, thats right up there with several other barf producing images I’ve seen here at FR...lol
Please Re Read. China is importing chicken feet from the US. Nothing is said here about importing chicken from China.
