The story of that week, and the secret planning in the months preceding it, ranks as the most perilous chapter so far in President Trumps three years in office.

Then the Iranians backed down
which is a good thing.
Trump WINS again.
No they cant, nor cant any other country, including Russia and China....however, as weve seen before, its all about the narrative and shaping public opinion here and abroad.
Seven Days in January: How Trump Pushed NYT to the brink of madness.
“How Trump Pushed U.S. and Iran to the Brink of War”
Yea, the Mullahs did no pushing at all, at any time or any place in the past or recently; they’ve always been the nicest folks ever. /sarc

Need one of those old style Twilight Zone episodes, where these Neo-Commies wake up in a Soviet gulag (that leftist institution in the old commie USSR) and find that every stupid thing they previously mouthed is blared at them in the 24/7 ‘Corrections’ to the inmates - With a scene where the first one who opens his mouth to DEMAND ‘proper respect’ has his head kicked/crushed by a gulag guard - as an example of “what foolishness earns the Criminal Inmates” ...
The dream being ended, the same Neo-Commies now see the same thing being instituted in their own jobs by other leftists and *FADE TO BLACK* as they still delusionally assume ‘It will be done right this time’ ... (The usual defense of all American communists who are confronted by the real history of their political agenda).
.
Reality will be : These leftist fools/betrayers ‘Reaping the Whirlwind’ when other Americans turn their backs on them and lock them out when the vermin the leftists have bred come to eat them.

They have to have the capacity to engage in intelligent thought before anything can get in its way.
They lack the wit to understand that theirs is a mediocre intelligence, at best, despite all the credentials they have struggled to acquire in order to make it otherwise--and that President Donald Trump towers over them intellectually and morally.
I’ve said for a long time that while we had all the assets in Iraq, we should have next turned the guns on Iran.
“Does Iran think they can challenge us?”
Up to this point in time, “yes”. Look at how all our Presidents til Mr Trump have followed basically the “Carter Doctrine” with regards to Iran. We may have the military power to destroy them. But under the Carter Doctrine, we have not had the will to show them otherwise - they mess with us, no matter how small, it will cost them more.
The NYT might be premature - it is too close in time to the event to know whether there was a “brink of war” scenario. It makes for good headlines. I am sure they wrote something similar when Reagan walked away from Gorbachev’s fake “peace offering” in Iceland. Taking out Mr “Salami” might actually cause internal changes in Iran that ends the nightmare the people there, and the rest of the region, have lived through over the past 40 years.
Prettiest boxed X on Free Republic!
blah, blah, blah fake news.
The planning was so secret they let a mob of Iranian trained militia attempt to storm the US embassy on New Years eve .....Trumps Benghazi
More NYT crap!
Pushing implies the President moved something to the brink of war. This is classic liberal projection. In this case taking out a terrorist pig means that it was the President who therefore brought the US to the brink of war. It matters not that Iran’s mullahs had this animal doing his blood letting for years. Everytime he helped plan the killing of American soldiers it didn’t bring the mullah regime to the brink of war by their own acts?
Whether or not the story actually supports the assertion is irrelevant at this point. As a source of information the Slimes is irrelevant.
That’s true, I blee someone’s argument away the other day by mentioning our Baghdad embassy was attacked first and the other guy was dumbfounded that the embassy was in Baghdad and was attacked first. He’d been reading leftwing news and thought the embassy was in Iran and it was just a protest.

Good advice. In the article one learns who are one’s “friends” ... some of our “friends” in the EU really aren’t our friends. Of course EU likes the protection the US gives them to keep M.E. oil flowing into the EU without having any significant EU skin in the game. EU, like obozo, appear afraid to confront Iran on anything, including demanding with words that the terrorism stops ... or else. Like typical EU intelligentsia, they appear more upset that Trump didn’t consult them or let them in on it than they are about Iranian regional terrorism.
If bold Iranian people rise up and dump the gang of perverts that run the place the Dems (and frankly every preceding President) are going to look rather stupid. #winning

There has been a lot of back and forth between the US and Iran in recent months. They attacked oil tankers and the Saudi oil fields. Then they killed an American in a missile attack. We then launched a counterattack that killed a bunch of ragheads. Then “mourners” then attacked our embassy. Then we blew up terror boy. Its been tit for tat for a long time.
