The Royal Family are said to be "hurt" at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's announcement they will step back as senior royals.
Prince Harry and Meghan did not consult any senior royal before making the statement, the BBC understands.
Buckingham Palace was "blindsided", said BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond, as talks about their future had begun but were in very early stages.

so many here do not like the monarchy and wish it was gone, Harry is taking a step in that direction by walking away, I hope it works out for them and shows the other royals they do not need that job.
Meghan feels much more comfortable in Canada than in Britain, and with the UK tabloid press being the low-life cretins that they are, who can blame her?
If they come and live in Canada, I’m sure they will be largely ignored and left to their own happy family life. Very few people in Canada actually care about the royals, we have the vestiges of the monarchy but very little monarchist sentiment. Sure people turn out to see them on tours, but I would say 99% of the population have no interest in them at all.
The Palace will not be amused. Meghan’s deal was that she got to marry into an enterprise and lend her appeal to their brand, not just abscond with good looking Harry and whisk him away to her pad.
Well they don’t follow Canadian and or North American women very carefully if they thought that wasn’t going to happen.
The Royals were good at turfing out David and mrs. Simpson. I’m sure a similar scheme can be employed for the prince formerly known as Harry

Queen Elizabeth’s father became King when his brother gave up the throne for a divorced woman. Charles didn’t have to give up the throne..

Oh well... I like to see pictures of them... it’s a way of life for them.
As a family and for their young child in particular , this was the best decision they could have made. No telling what kind of toxic drama and petty meanness Meghan had to put up with behind the scenes. Despite the media debacle, she strikes me as the kind of person who is eager to please and made an effort to get along with ‘the Firm.’
Also, the whole ranking of the children and “heir to the spare” dynamic for her young son is just too pointless to tolerate.
Just hope the couple won’t go too woke with their new foundation.

Megan knows Hubby will never be King, so why not just leave and do their own thing.

She'll probably even get bored and get back into acting.
illiam and Kate are the real deal.
They are walking away with about 58 million Canadian dollars. The didn't really need any job. Now they can just relax and enjoy their lives.

Being an American I believed she was unprepared for the responsibilities of being a 'royal'.
It was a triple culture shock. She had to adjust to British culture, royal responsibilities, and the rigors of being in the spotlight every minute of her life.
She was wholly unprepared for what would be expected of her. It is crushing for a non-royal and a non Brit.
Moving to North America makes perfect sense. It's the only escape she has to live the normal life she knew other than to divorce Harry and return to the US.
