On Friday morning the United States killed General Qassim Soleimani, a top commander of Iran’s al-Quds Force, in an airstrike at Baghdad’s International Airport. The strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces. Seven people were reportedly killed in the airstrike.
The Iranians are threatening retaliation against the United States following the death of their terror leader.
Former Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Mohsen Rezaei said on Sunday the retaliation for the killing of IRGC al-Quds Force chief Qasem Soleimani will include strikes on Haifa and Defense bases in Israel.

Israel doesn't have the means to destroy the Iranian Navy.

Iran is a typical 3rd world, Muslim, magical-thinking, multi-ethnic chaotic country. As the Brits say, they couldn’t arrange a piss-up in a brewery. Everything they do must be “asymmetric” because they can’t manage anything else.
Right now, their leaders are wondering how the US tracked Soleimani’s movements, wondering if they are next, and are busy changing their cells phones, computers, and moving their money and mistresses to safer locations.
They will do something. There is a new guy who took over and he’ll need to look like he’s a tough guy to secure his position.

The new guy’s name will be kept secret until a couple of days before his death.

It would then be open season on all the Iranian and Iranian-backed fighters from the Mediterranean coast to the Iran-Iraq border, including those in Gaza and the West Bank. Israel has already hit several IRG bases and weapons depots in Syria and Lebanon over the past year.

Only in a suicidal way. Hitting Israel gives the Israelis the moral authority to do what they have hesitated to do - clean up the mess in Iran.
The only question: Do the Israelis have the military might? They do. Or will have after they are resupplied by President Trump.
Israel is already making good use of the F-35’s they bought from us. No one has yet to bring one down and Israel has been using them on combat missions.
That should tell Iran a huge something.
But we do.
Other Arab nations may not be happy with Iran if that happens.
Hard to say what Israel's capabilities are, but the Iranian Navy doesn't seem so formidable. I think their three destroyers are ~50 years old, and they have some frigates and three Russian-made Kilo class submarines.
