Supporters of Joe Biden are unlikely to be persuaded by most of the common criticisms. They know he can be rambling and unintelligible. They know his record is unimpressive and that he doesn’t really have “policy proposals”. None of this matters, though, because to them he has the most important quality of all: he can beat Donald Trump. Nothing you can say about the former vice-president’s record, platform or mental state matters next to the argument that he is the best hope Democrats have of getting Trump out of office.
There’s just one problem: it’s a myth. It is a myth just as it was a myth that Hillary Clinton was a good candidate against Trump. Biden is not, in fact, the pragmatic choice. He would not beat Trump. He would lose. And we must say this over and over again. Forget his flubs. Forget his finger-nibbling. Biden would be crushed by Trump. If you want Trump out of office, don’t support Biden.

Biden’s policies are whatever gets votes, not core beliefs.
Biden just lied and said he supported the raid on Bin Laden.
The author is right....Biden will be eaten up by Trump, but thinking Sanders will fare better is just silly.
But the author hopes mainstreaming a socialist campaign sets it up for the future (like AOC) to run on a similar platform and it will not seem so “irregular”
For reasons I don’t quite understand, Biden is stronger among seniors than the other Democrats. All the old white ladies at my church think Biden can do no wrong. Biden has them fooled into thinking he’s an old school moderate Democrat.

He will take his loss like a man. That will take them really left in 2024. If they go really left now they will have 4 years to get it right. There’s a Bill Clinton out there thats accomplished and gift of gab. The lack of a resume didn’t stop the Kenyan.

It is not a mutually exclusive position to say Biden is the most electable Democrat and Trump will run rings around him.

It's true that Biden will lose. But the others will lose worse. Except maybe ...
I have a friend who is generally to the right but not as ardently as I am. He thinks Bloomberg has a chance at being the nominee.
It's not a bad idea I think. Since I think it's true that Biden will lose badly, and the other cartoons will lose worse ... Bloomberg may be their wisest choice because he's probably the hardest for Trump to attack -> he appears to be the only sane democrat, once his 4 trillion ads get out there people will 'know' him. Then he can serve the purpose of Biden (a seeming non-cartoon-progressive-communist anything-but-trump) without Biden's baggage not to mention faltering mind due to age.
I know Bloomberg has no charisma -> but am I right that he might be their best bet to try to get the spineless swing voters who will decide the election?
I still think we're looking at a virtual landslide barring some big negative event.
