Iran-backed militiamen behind an attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, have begun retreating from the area on Wednesday following a threat from President Donald Trump to hold Tehran accountable for the siege.
Supporters of the Kataib Hezbollah militia who had spent the night camped outside the embassy began dismantling their tents and leaving the area, saying they had won a victory and would now seek the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq through the nations parliament, the Washington Post reports.
The development comes after Department of Defense Secretary Mark Esper announced on Tuesday evening the deployment of 750 U.S. soldiers to the region in response to the attack. Esper said additional troops are prepared to ship out for reenforcement if needed.
Earlier Tuesday, President Donald Trump blamed Iran for orchestrating the attack and threatened the country will pay a very big price.
The U.S. Embassy in Iraq is, & has been for hours, SAFE! Many of our great Warfighters, together with the most lethal military equipment in the world, was immediately rushed to the site. Thank you to the President & Prime Minister of Iraq for their rapid response upon request, the president tweeted.
.Iran will be held fully responsible for lives lost, or damage incurred, at any of our facilities. They will pay a very BIG PRICE! This is not a Warning, it is a Threat. Happy New Year!

Willy Peter must have sent them on the run.
Act of War. Seize Iranian holdings and liquidate to offset losses.

I wonder what Jimmy Carter thinks when he reads Trump’s statement and sees how it’s supposed to be done.
The Iraqi leaders need to be thanked???
Oh, wait....
“deployment of 750 US Soldiers”. Well, I have to say, when the US Embassy came under siege, Trump’s military leaders acted fast to support the embassy. They have learned from past mistakes.
Maybe Madam Pelosi let them know she was going to deem it a victory for them.
I get your point but I think ithe rapid response is more about not having to develop a story line to cover your tracks about why you were there attempting to recover American munitions supplied to hostile forces to destabilize a region. Obama and Hillarys State needed a whopper to explain why our Diplomats were murdered and had to construct the story before approving support to save lives.
Two different foreign policies. One with an acutely evil intent, another with Americans first.
Only for muzzieland does the news media give the title of 'protester' to rock throwing, fire starting militia in full uniform as the Iraq news video shows. Anywhere else it would be a military attack against sovereign nation property ie: embassy. Maybe we could get our military to give equal treatment to some Iranian embassies in the U.S.

The Anti-Benghazi!
“..Seize Iranian holdings and liquidate to offset losses...”
and pay for the damages to the structure.
The only thing Jimmy Carter thinks is “Is the nurse ever gonna change my Depends?” or “Is there any of that Tapioca left?”
Isnt that what I said?
Well we all know they are militia just like they were militia in Benghazi. But the difference here is Trump showed them they were going to get their azzes handed to them so they are moving on.
