About this time in every presidential nomination contest there is talk of a brokered convention. As if on cue, were hearing it again.
The thought of such a convention races the hearts of political junkies everywhere. It conjures the image of power brokers deciding the fate of the nation in a smoke-filled room. In 1924, it took 103 ballots for Democrats to settle on dark horse John W. Davis.
While it is not likely the 2020 Democratic nomination will be brokered in a backroom rule changes have made that more difficult it is possible that the convention could be contested, which means it would require more than one ballot to select a nominee.

“Biden or Bernie will be the nominee”
*****************
If Biden is the nominee, the Bernie supporters will revolt, and Trump will win.
If Bernie is the nominee, Trump will capture all the voters in the middle, and Trump will win.
Win-win winning!!!
Conventional wisdom dictates that a brokered convention is not likely in the modern age. However, conventional wisdom is discredited. Just four years ago, conventional wisdom dictated that Trump had no path to the nomination. Conventional wisdom was wrong (again).
“Its not going to happen. The chances are zero. Neither party would allow such chaos in their well scripted conventions.”
uh, a contested convention simply means no candidate receives a majority of delegates from the primaries, and given the proportional delegate rules in many states and the current RCP poll average split relatively equally amongst the top 3-4 Dem candidates, it’s quite possible that a contested convention could arise ...
Right, this will never happen, but it seems like somebody brings it up every election year.
No. It's not. I am making an absolute statement.
Indeed
Not a real contested convention that anyone could actually win, but just one contested on the surface so they can move in Her Heinous. Why they play these ridiculous games after manipulating 2016 in front of everyone’s eyes is a valid question However, considering that Bernie’s rubes continue to send him money after he sold them out for his 600,000 pieces of silver house, I guess it makes sense.
Lots of talk now on the order of "If X doesn't win Y, then he/she is out." I don't see that applying to any of the three front-runners, at least not yet. I also don't see the thing deadlocked to the point where a yet-to-declare deus ex machina will be cranked down from the rafters to carry the nomination away. That would require a whole lot of delegates to switch suddenly in the middle of an intensely charged battle, and the sort of back-room bribery necessary to effect that would be frenzied and truly spectacular but not, I suspect, enough to guarantee party solidarity. The Bernie and Hillary sides hated one another then and it's worse now.
Biden just needs to have enough delegates for the nomination then crosses a Golden Bridge too far. Voila! Brokered convention.
She knows her limitations, though - she knows she can't campaign flat out for 11 months without going into vapor lock in the stretch. That's why a brokered convention is her plan. She's skipping all the primaries and going straight to the general election (she'd skip that, too, if she could)
At this point,I hate all political parties that pollute our system.
I wonder how many super delegates made trips to Epstein’s island?
Bump
“I am making an absolute statement. “
not even a .0000000000001% chance?
“Really dont see why anyone would seriously suggest M.O., a wholly repulsive character with a terrible record and zero experience as a candidate.”
But that is the perfect Democrat candidate.
“Obola”.... I love it!
I do not know if we will ever know.
