Radio shock jock Don Imus, one of the early pioneers of his genre, died Friday less than two years after retiring, according to a family statement given to NBC New York.
He was 79.
The controversial morning personalitys last day on the radio was on March 29 of last year. He had announced on Jan. 22 that he was retiring, telling fans: Turn out the lights...the party's over."

RIP.
Used to enjoy his simulcast, first on MSNBC before Morning Joe came along, then over FBN before it was replaced by Mornings with Maria.
Great interviewer, who will be missed.

Enjoyed Imus for decades.
He played the part of a cranky old cowboy with roots in show business.
Then, over time, gradually turned into a real one.
R.I.P Don.

The leftist at MSNBC(like Andrea Mitchell) loved calling him I man.....
then they viciously turned on him.
Imus was particularly pissed about Harold Ford.

One of the few in mainstream media that dare spoke ill of the Clintons. It’s a shame, really, that he died off before they did.
