U.S. rolls back standards on energy saving light bulbs
Reuters ^ | December 20, 2019 | by Timothy Gardner

The Trump administration on Friday said it has finalized a decision to roll back a George W. Bush-era rule to phase out incandescent light bulbs, saying that requirements for energy efficient bulbs would be costly to consumers.

The administration finalized a proposal made in September to roll back the standard that was to come into effect next year. The move has been challenged by 16 states including New York and California who say it would harm state efforts to fight climate change.

Great ... and I still have not even used up my light bulb stash.

Eggsactly!
Was just in the garage wondering if my great-great grandkids will finally see the end of my stash.
Light bulbs and ammo...at least I got one correct!

I’m with your mother on this. The LEDs now fit the sockets of the old incandescents. Same shape. I have no objection to those, but won’t buy the squiggly hazard-mat ones.

I use LEDs with the exception of my bedside lamp. I like the warm glow of an incandescent bulb.

However, I or any other person should have the choice of any damn type of light bulb they want!

I did this analysis about a year after the incandescent ban...

This one shows a great graph from Livermore Labs of Energy usage in the USA:

This graph below was my analysis of the usage in households (not industry) and the assumptions I made from readily available data...in my pop-out, look at the little tiny sliver of RED (which indicated current usage) and the "savings" of using CFL which is indicated by the comparative thickness of the red line to the green line:

I am fine with energy savings, but to put people through the BS for THAT was uncalled for. Stupidity.

I have my stash to last another two or three years. Never used an LED and I hope I won’t have to!

Heh, I thought so too when I saw it.

Ridicule of them and indifference to them are the only weapons we have that work against the left that are not based on gunpowder and steel!

I changed every light to LED. They actually are great and save a ton of electricity bill money which I like. Try them out. They’ve improved greatly.

It seems to be going the opposite direction. Many developments are not allowing gas at all in many states.

Seems the warmth of the incandescent bulbs kept the ice melted away from the fixtures.

Semi truck operators experience the same problem.

From the article:

The Natural Resources Defense Council, a nonprofit, said it would cost consumers $14 billion in energy bills annually

I would love to see the math on that.

"She HATED those squiggly light bulbs and had a secret stash of incandescent bulbs so she could see to read her beloved books."

I hated the squiggly bulbs too, but they have been superseded by LED bulbs with MORE energy saving ability, better life, and multiple choices of color spectrum. Oh, and they are the same shape and fit into the same sockets as incandescents.

People should be able to buy what they wish, but LED's are better.

I love my LEDs. Same light as an incandescent at a fraction of the cost to use. And they last much longer. I have a pair of 100w equivalents out front that have been on 24/7 for 6 years. They use 24 watts a piece.

At nigh time, take a look around any city on this planet (except those in No. Korea). They are lit up like Christmas trees.

If anyone gave a $h1t about energy conservation, the environment, climate and carbon, they would demand that all lights in empty commercial buildings be turned off. Simple solution: Movement sensor switches have been around for decades.

The Marxist environmental whackos never thought of this because they’re too farcking stupid.
