Trump, allies target vulnerable Democrats ahead of House impeachment vote

With articles of impeachments against President Trump headed for a vote on the House floor next week, Trump and his allies have trained their sights on the Democrats who represent districts that supported Trump in 2016.

As public opinion on Trump’s impeachment remains splintered and mostly stagnant, more than half of the 31 Democrats targeted by Trump haven’t said yet how they’ll vote, but Democratic leadership has signaled they expect at most only six to 10 defectors.

On Saturday morning Trump tweeted, quoting conservative pundit Jason Meister, who zeroed in on those Democrats during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

“There are 31 House Democrats in Trump won Congressional Districts. Those Dems will have to answer to their constituents come 2020,”

The only way some of those thirty-four Democrat Representatives will have any chance to be re-elected is to vote no or present on each of the two impeachment resolutions.

“With articles of impeachments against President Trump headed for a vote on the House floor next week”

Why no announced date?

There’s at least a dozen Democrats opposed, and another dozen who don’t want to take this vote.

The chamber has 233 Democrats, 197 Republicans and an independent,
Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, who is expected to support impeachment.
Four seats are vacant.

I don’t trust Ronna Romney McDaniel at the RNC to win these seats - it all comes down to recruiting, organization and $.

“present” shouldn't be an option..you might as well be “absent”

BTW....What is the idea of being able to vote “present”...I really don't know...

In addition to the 31 from pro-Trump districts, I bet there are some Democrats wanting to vote against impeachment out of sheer embarrassment.

This has to be the most blatantly dishonest, hypocritical and politically motivated impeachment in the history of the world.

If I was a Democrat congressman, I would refuse to go along, just so that when I went home for Christmas, I wouldn’t have to lie to my grandchildren about why my stupid political party made me vote to impeach a President who didn’t do anything wrong.

WOW, that’s something Schiff or Nadler would NEVER do.

Nice to see the WaPo having hives and the vapors.

It’s what happens when you believe a lie for years and find out the truth. Sometimes things like that lead to broken friendships, divorces, suicide and switching parties.

By my count, Trump has to peal off 19 Demis to defeat the impeachment vote.

Doable. GOP is running anti impeachment ads in their districts. They’re getting hammered without pushback from the Rat leadership.

Impeachment a slam dunk? Pelosi and company need to hurry up before they suffer more defections.

Probably, but if NO Republicans (thankfully, Amash officially left the party) vote for impeachment in either the House or Senate and a handful in the House also vote against impeachment, that shows this to be the political hack job that it is.

McConnell better lean VERY hard on Romney.

Federalist—According to Burisma’s website, Joseph Cofer Black (Romney adviser) was appointed in February of 2017 and continues to serve on its board. The timelines would indicate that Black and Biden worked together at Burisma, and indeed, web archives from late 2017 show Black and Biden listed simultaneously on the board.

KYIV. Oct 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden received $900,000 for lobbying activities from Burisma Group, Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada member Andriy Derkach said citing investigation materials. Derkach publicized documents which, as he said, “describe the mechanism of getting money by Biden Sr.” at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine’s press center in Kyiv on Wednesday. “This was the transfer of Burisma Group’s funds for lobbying activities, as investigators believe, personally to Joe Biden through a lobbying company. Funds in the amount of $900,000 were transferred to the U.S.-based company Rosemont Seneca Partners, which according to open sources, in particular, the New York Times, is affiliated with Biden. The payment reference was payment for consultative services,” Derkach said. This stuff goes back to 2008;
