Gov. Ralph Northam (D) announced Monday his assault weapons ban will mean AR-15 owners can either register their guns with the government or hand them over.
The Virginia Mercury reported Northam spokeswoman Alena Yarmosky used a statement to say, The governors assault weapons ban will include a grandfather clause for individuals who already own assault weapons, with the requirement they register their weapons before the end of a designated grace period.
Yarmosky made clear details on other gun controls will be made known before the start of the 2020 session in which Democrats take charge.

Damned few of those. Any licensing, registration or permit requirement is a clear infringement on the right recognized under the second amendment. Where can you go, obtain a gun, and tell officials who ask you about your weapons "None of your business" with impunity?
They were registered when we bought them.....mostly.
“I predict that CWII will start in VA.”
Could very well be.
I predict that CWII will start in VA.
Or Revolutionary War II.
I am not longer complying with an openly and brazenly corrupt government.
Bad idea, governor
This crap is still working its way through the courts for a century. If the Hellar SCOTUS decision had been in place before the first assault weapons case hit the 9'th circuit it would have ended the California ban and unconstitutional laws. So instead even sense Hellar decision we still wait for relief from the courts.
Welcome to the club Virginia and all you in the other states soon to follow because the Supreme Court fails to get off its ass and end this unconstitutional crap. Connecticut and New York showed nearly 90% noncompliance or greater. The same is true in California. Eve before they went after H-bar type AR15 refiles in California they banned SKS rifles with detachable magazines. There were hundreds of thousands (close to a million nobody knows for sure) of these purchased in California alone and none were turned in.
We had to become creative in California. Either go fixed magazine or featureless configurations. An even better option is the KaliKey which replaces the charge handle and bolt removing the gas tube on the bolt and making it a single shot bolt operated rifle. Takes two seconds to pull the rear receiver pin and change the bolt and charge handle out. In this configuration you can have a standard AR15 and magazines. If the SHTF ever you simply replace the bolt and charge bar to rock and roll.
LOL Dicktator. Another anti-American POS. Thanks NRA. /s
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn penned a missive dealing with governmental tyranny against his people in the former Soviet Union, that casts a dark shadow of what was and what could be. In light of recent talks of gun control here in the United States, I feel that we may be repeating those same fatal passive errors.
This is a quote from one of the many writings that if you really dwell on, you will understand the torment of the writer..... freedom is not free.
And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalins thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If if We didnt love FREEDOM enough. And even more we had no awareness of the real situation . We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

I'm not as smart as you so I can't speak for other states, but I doubt that neighboring Constitutional Carry West Virginia will go that route.
Fr neede a like button.

The “How to do it” at the Gov. end, and owners response, has already been proven out in other states.
Some will comply (Hoping to be the last into the camps), others will go to court, more will ignore the unconstitutional law hoping it is eventually overturned (With the BS ban still in place I am pessimistic on that) and even more will simply sell their “Banned” items out of state and VA’s jurisdiction rather than risk the expense/arrest.
The correct answer here is to impeach/recall the governor, he’s engaging in sedition, attempting to deny the citizens a clearly enumerated civil and constitutional right.
Note that he would never dare try anything like this with the gay mafia or muzzy’s.
He seems to think the 2A is somehow a lesser right that may be infringed with impunity.
Need to prove him wrong, peacefully, and through the proper channels.
Any act of violence will only please him and his ilk as providing justification for their sedition.
49 out of 95 counties, 5 out of 38 independent cities, and 5 towns have adopted Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions in Virginia to date
lol. Never mind...
Well to each his own. First they came for my neighbors AR-15 and I didnt say anything...
Amendment IV
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated”
Part of being secure is not being on a list.
