"Climate crisis" and "climate emergency" are replacing the neutral-sounding "climate change." Then there's the threatening "extreme weather," which has become a major focus as warming has stalled over the last two decades. Climate alarmists blame rising, man-made CO2 emissions for supposedly ever more frequent and intense hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic activity, drought, flooding, and snowstorms. (Never mind that twenty years ago, David Viner, a senior research scientist of the climatic research unit of the University of East Anglia, predicted that "children just aren't going to know what snow is.")

Before humans arrived, climate changed. After we're gone, climate will change.
All any of these scumbags want is higher taxes.

Who?
Which Republicans?
The Bush wing. I’ve heard that James Baker among others is trying to push the old carbon tax BS.
This is classic GOPe tactics. “Manage the Decline”.
Or 11.5 years, whichever comes first.
Here's a clue. There are a billion people in the world who don't know what snow is. Not a problem.
There's a lot of graft to collect if you're in the business of taking money away from hard working American taxpayers and giving it to African despots. You get to keep some of it for your troubles.
Boy, do you ever have that right. Thank God for President Trump. He couldn't be more opposite of that mindset. Make America Great Again.
Let's hope the GOP is in its death throes, to be replaced by a MAGA political party.
The bottom line is this. We could spend trillions to “combat” globull warming, but all it takes is one or massive eruptions from Mt. Pinatubo, Mt. Vesuvius or any other active volcano, and all the carbon emissions reduction plans, etc all go up in smoke. In other words, Mother Nature still calls all the shots and we have no control over what happens in our climate. I don’t care what these “learned” fools think. We’ve had major warming and cooling episodes in Earth history long before the arrival of man, and there were no belching smokestacks from factories or CO2 emissions coming from cars when these episodes occurred. The worldwide left just wants more control and power over all our lives, and driving fear about human induced climate change is one such scheme!
Hurricanes are getting less frequent. The average hurricane is getting stronger, but that affects a small unlucky area, up to 50 miles wide. The most economically expensive hurricane of all time is Miami 1926. A different hurricane in 1926 was one of the strongest to hit Bermuda. The most damage by far to the Bahamas was from the three hurricanes in 1926 which includes those two.
Strong tornadoes are decreasing. Extreme winds are decreasing. Floods are not increasing, the largest flood ever in the US was in 1844. The most expensive by economic cost was 1951. Volcanoes have nothing to do with weather. Drought is a minor blip in the big picture. As the article points out, US drought was much worse in the 1930's. Our last significant drought in 2012 had a one season impact on crop production, but production rose to new record highs in 2013.
We all better pray for a bit of Global Warming.
The alternative, which has a lot of real science behind it, would make everyone’s life much harder, or maybe even impossible.
Pinatubo had about 42 Mt of CO2. That's about 1/2 a day of manmade emissions. Total volcanic production is about 1/100 of manmade. So that's not an argument. What is a good argument is that one large volcano and all the nice warmth we enjoy is gone. The stratopheric aerosols will cover the planet and cool it from a few years to 10 years or more with a super volcano. Crop failures and starvation will ensue.
Thanks rktman. [game of Clue 2020] Recucklican, in the dumpster, with the toe tag.
Yup. Living above the arctic circle is a little tougher than living in Alabama or Florida. May be uncomfortable at times but survivable.
Republocrats or Demoplicans, both parties are trash.
Occasionally the R side will have a few normal people, but eventually they all get zombie-fied by the D.C. machine.
My grandkids aren't. But, we live on the southern border.
Here is the "Cliff Notes" introduction to her work.
She makes her most canonical case on this you tube video. It is excellent but it is long and heavy on mathematics and statistics. A lot of people might find it heavy slogging. But she makes her case strongly with real science and not emotional feelings.
Pardon me while I rant a bit.
Circa 1965: The Population Bomb! By 2000 everyone will be starving! A scientist wrote a book about it! It has to be true! We’re all gonna die!
It didn’t happen and starvation as a percentage of the population has fallen. We produce more food and poverty and starvation are decreasing as a percentage of the population.
_____
Circa 1970-72: There is an ice age coming in 15 years! The environment will be ruined. Climatologists are sure of it! It was even on the cover of Time Magazine! We’re all gonna die!
It didn’t happen. Can we blame global warming?
_____
Circa 1975: There is a hole in the ozone layer. It’s caused by the propellant in hairspray! The science is incontrovertible! Radiation will kill everything by 1982! We’re all gonna die!
It didn’t work out that way despite lots more women with frizzy hair.
_____
Circa1977-1978: We’re going to run out of oil by 1990. Civilization will collapse! Jimmy Carter told us so in a speech from the Oval Office while wearing an ugly sweater! He said the science was infallible, peak oil and all that! We’re all gonna die!
It’s a good thing my Mazda runs on unicorn farts! Or, is that still gasoline I buy at the pump? Oh, and despite all the oil used since Jimmy told us we had 10 to 15 years of oil left, oil reserves today are greater than they were in 1978.
_____
Circa 1980: Reagan’s gonna cause a nuclear war. A group of Social scientists and other assorted academics told us it was inevitable. We’ll have a nuclear winter! We’re all gonna die!
I sort of felt the same way about Hillary Clinton being elected president but that didn’t happen either.
_____
Circa 1982: They’re cutting down the Amazon rain forest to make paper bags! It’ll be gone by 1992. They’re cutting down an area the size of Kansas every two weeks! Geologists and satellites tell us it is true! We’re all gonna die!
Whatever the subject this nonsense was spouted in every undergraduate class I took in the early 1980s. It didn’t happen and the environmental movement is, I think, partially responsible for the plague of plastic bag litter in the oceans. We stopped using paper bags because they begged us too for the environment!
_____
Circa 1980’s: Alar on apples! Oh my God! We fed it to our children! We’re all gonna die!
If you don’t remember this one look it up. It’s pretty funny stuff
_____
Circa 1990 -2005: Global Warming. By 2010 sea levels will be 40 higher! Lots of little islands will disappear and Manhatten and LA will be underwater. 1,000,000,000 climate refuges! We’re all gonna die!
I just recently moved from one of the islands that were listed as going to be underwater by 2010. It’s still there and the beaches are still lovely. I am not a refugee from Guam. I wish I were still living on that island several times a month.
_____
Circa 2019: Climate change! Because you boomers didn’t believe in it we’re all gonna die! We’ve got less than10 years before the end! Climate models told us so!
The environmental movement has been making predictions of death and doom as long as I can remember and they have never been right. We’re still here, we haven’t all died. In 2031 (11 years from now) I want a groveling apology from everyone that found this post offensive because they believed in apocalyptic climate change that was going to kill us in 10 years. (Greta Thornberg I’m looking at you) Maybe between now and then you should take an “Adulting” class as well.
P.S. There are lots of real environmental problems. But since we have less than 10 years to live, who cares about endangered species, polluted water, and air and why would you abandon fossil fuels?
