To play devil’s advocate, an unfortunate number of American families treat Thanksgiving as a food holiday. I haven’t had a “real” Thanksgiving in over 15 years.

Yes, there will be an abundance of excellent food at my family Thanksgiving, but it’s not a food holiday. It’s a celebration and recognition of God’s grace.

In my area, you can get killed for entering the Metro; smashed into the concrete for just being near the entrance to a hotel; shot for being a journalist for a small local newspaper; and all over the Nation you can be shot dead for just worshipping at a church or synagogue, attending a public school - or exploded to bits for arriving to work in the morning at an office building in a Large Metropolitan Area.
