Chesa Boudin will serve as San Francisco's next district attorney, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Saturday.
Boudin, the most progressive candidate on the ballot, won a tight race against interim district attorney Suzy Loftus. Boudin held 85,950 votes as of Saturday afternoon, with about 1,200 ballots left to count, the Chronicle said. Loftus had 83,511 votes.
The 39-year-old won the seat following four days of ballot counting in the city's first open election for district attorney in over a century following sitting District Attorney George Gascon's departure to run for district attorney in Los Angeles.
"We are all feeling the momentum for change in this city!" Boudin tweeted Friday after learning he held a slight lead in the election.
The former deputy public defender ran on a campaign that promised to address racial disparity in the criminal justice system, mass incarceration and police accountability.

Embrace your suck SF.
Relax it’s just San Francisco it can’t go much lower
Why anyone would ever willingly move to the Bay Area.
A Somali also won back east. I mention that because they are all in agreement: America, as founded, must fall. These reprobates winning elections intend on ‘forcing’ their depraved views on America. The question I have is who in the hell is voting for these maggots? Do they not have families? Homes? Livelihoods? War is coming. I’m too old to do anything but shoot at this point. But shoot I will. I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
This punk was raised by Bill Ayers, the Weatherman who helped launch Obama. He also worked for the Chavez administration in Venezuela for a while, so his leftist/commie credentials were exactly what SF voters wanted. That and running for DA on a platform of NOT prosecuting criminals.
To be a Human Feces Pickup Man?
Adopted son of Weather Underground mad bombers Bernadette Dorn and Bill Ayers.
I don’t think San Fagcisco has even begun to plumb the depths yet..........I never thought I’d see the day when we’d have to suspend Posse Comitatus and occupy our own coast to ensure the liberty and domestic security of the Republic, but I see a cloud on the horizon.
Oh yes it can
Where were the Repub/conservative ads explaining all of this to the voters?
Or, do they just not give a flip?
What did you post? The only thing that came up was 4 squares... ?
Spewing Cabernet Sauvignon on the screen.////
That is so very very funny. Still cackling over here.
Veto!

I am reluctant to say it but this nation is headed for disaster. Actually it is the entire world, with a few exceptions.

Boudins parents, Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, were members of the militant left-wing Weather Underground, which began as a faction of Students for a Democratic Society and gained infamy in the late 60s and the 70s for a spate of political bombingsincluding at the Pentagon and the State Department headquartersin protest of the Vietnam War.
The group was four years dead when Boudins parents handed their 14-month-old to a babysitter and left to participate in one of Americas most notorious crimes, the 1981 Brinks heist, for which they acted as getaway driversGilbert driving and Boudin sitting shotgun in a U-Haul truck that served as a switch vehicle.
The perpetrators, led by members of the Black Liberation Army, got away with $1.6 million before a shootout ensued; three people were killedtwo cops and a security guard.
Boudins parents were sentenced to long prison sentences for their roles in the crime. His father is still incarcerated; his mother was released in 2003 and is now the co-director of the Center for Justice at Columbia University, which works on mass incarceration issues.
In their absence, Boudin was raised in Chicago by their close friends and fellow Weathermen Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, now a pair of retired academics who still haunt the fever dreams of right-wingers.
Who drove the get-away vehicle?
FINALLY!!! Social Justice will prevail in San Francisco. This will be lots of fun to watch!
Amen!
