WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions will announce he’s running for his old Senate seat in Alabama.

Sessions is expected to make the announcement on Thursday. His decision to run was confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday by two Republicans with direct knowledge of his plans. They were not authorized to discuss it publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Sessions long held the seat he will now pursue but stepped down to serve as President Donald Trump’s first attorney general. He was ousted after enduring public mocking from Trump for recusing himself from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

He can win the seat BACK.

Sessions got forced into recusing himself.

The mistake was grabbing a sitting Senator for a Cabinet position to start with.

I need help here: I’m new to the state and do not want to vote for this guy. He needs to spend time with his family - the old goat.

Sessions is the Dems favorite chew toy along with the other traitor, Richard Burr. He asks, what can I do to keep you Dem’s favor? Answer: run for the senate so we insure Jones will win.

Agreed. Sessions is past his prime, but we need that seat back by any means necessary.

A shame he even accepted the AG appointment because his record in the Senate was pretty solid.

Ultimately, it’s up to the voters in Alabama, whom I would trust a heck of a lot more than the voters in Virginia.

Luther Strange, Roy Moore, and Mo Brooks. The Republicans were divided Three ways in that election. Doug Jones came in at the right time to take the Senate seat. He will lose to a unified Republican party in the state of Alabama. Jeff Sessions will not make it through the primaries. This is one seat the Democrats will lose in the Senate.

The Republicans better start bringing in and supporting fresh, YOUNG conservatives who are well-grounded and articulate their views exceptionally well. YOUNG candidates should be recruited, not aging old fossils.

Politics in the blood stream must be more addictive than heroin. Sessions has done enormous harm to the President and the country. He needs to go sit on a porch somewhere and watch the sunset.

THIS. GOP can't run Moore again. If Sessions can get the seat back, then hold your noses, guys, and let him.

Yes. We need that vote back.
And Trump should have never appointed Sessions AG.
Maybe some other post, but not AG.
Sessions is far better than Doug Jones D-Ala.
Trump will campaign for Sessions after he wins
the nomination. You can bet on it.
And u can also bet Trump has been consulted
about Sessions entry into the Senate race.
