PITTSBURGH - Good things come to those who wait, and for folks who have been craving a Clark Bar, the chocolate covered peanut butter crunch bars first developed in Pittsburgh will be available in November.
The maker of Mallo Cups is very close to rolling out Clark Bars at its plant in Altoona, the first to be produced in western Pennsylvania in decades.
Anthony Forgione, CEO of Boyer Candy Co., said via email on Friday that Clark Bars will be available in its outlets and online within the next three weeks and will be released nationally by Thanksgiving.
What did they do to Butterfingers?. They taste awful now.
I wish they would bring back the Mars Bar from the 1960’s, with the whole almonds, chocolate covered and pushing up through the top of the bar... and the filling inside the chocolate bar was incredible. Mars has used the name for another similar bar since, but not as good.
There was a time when MIT smelled like a candy factory - there used to be a NECCO facility next door.
I can eat chocolate now so I have some catching up to do...glad a Western PA classic is coming back!
Ah, Boyer Candy Company. Loved the Peanut Butter Smoothie.
I used to wait for the school bus home from high school outside their factory on 17th Street.
Zagnuts...havent thought about those in ages.
Thanks.

I used to love NECCO wafers.
But that was before I had crowns.
If I want a candy bar, I will go for Oh Henry every time.
Wasn’t that a Baby Ruth?
I had to go online and research where I could buy my all-time favorite candy bar.
5th Avenue...found CVS Pharmacy near me had some. Bought 3 yesterday.
Haven’t tried every type of candy. Rarely eat them. But Clark Bars sounds similar to a 5th Avenue. Peanut crunch covered with chocolate.
If you look up “NECCO” on Wikipedia, you’ll find a picture of their old factory on Mass. Ave in Cambridge - and the cool thing is, their water tower is painted to look like a tube of NECCO wafers!
I can’t think of Oh Henry candy bars without picturing Sue Ellen Mischke.
“Oh, and I remember those coin cards! “
How about the button candy on the paper strips?
I keep a supply in my freezer ... they're great in the summer with the mallo-filling just thawing after you take them out.
Last I counted, I have over $1500 worth of coin cards ...
I think it was about the time Bart Simpson became the Butterfingers spokesman.
Zagnuts are back too. Had one this week.
The only place I’ve seen Mallow Cups sold is in the gift shop at Cracker Barrel Restaurants. I don’t know if the chain exists in your area but their food is good and very reasonably priced. Grab yourself a Mallowbar on the way out for dessert! The gift shops freqyently carry items not seen since we were kids. I can say that because it seems that the age group just over the hump even remember them. Cracker barrel has the old fashioned moon pies too!
I always thought Clark Bars were better than Butterfingers. Im sure its a mattwr of opinion tho. Still, I hope they get sold in my area.
