FReeper Canteen ~ You Are Not Superman ~ 20 October 2019
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

YOU ARE NOT SUPERMAN

There are times when some events of life overwhelm us. Things at home or things at work can drain us. Sometimes we sense an urge to be "Superman" or even "God".

We want to "fix" things or "make everything better." In reality, this feeling can be the source of great stress and tension. We sometimes have to admit that certain things can't be fixed; certain things will not go away.

Got a problem, talk about it. It may not get "fixed" or go away, but you will feel better!

Howdy, LUV.

It was pretty slow at the museum today, though busier than last Saturday. That’s ok. I got a bunch of uniforms looked-over, cleaned up, bagged, and hanging on the racks upstairs.
I brought home a breastplate that goes with the saddle I cleaned up a couple of weeks ago and will clean it up here. Too cold and wet to do it today and next Sat. will be a repeat. Here, I can use a hair dryer to warm the leather so the conditioner can work its magic. I hope it cleans up as nicely as the saddle did.

How was your day? I hope your weather was a lot nicer than ours was.

Howdy, Kathy.

I wouldn’t call it a great day but any day at the museum is a good day. A bit slow but there was plenty to stay occupied when visitors weren’t there.
I only have 4 more museum days, then we close for the winter. :-(

Did you and Dot have a grand time at lunch. Did you get a nap afterwards? :-)
Car gassed up now? Duckies fed?

Hate that it wasn't very busy, but it's always nice to have a chance to get caught up on all that cleaning that needs doing. Bet that saddle and now the breastplate look better than they did when they were new.

Our weather was very nice, unfortunately. We need rain SO bad! It's supposed to be 90 tomorrow. Just wrong! LOL!

October 20

Not Second Rate

Bible in a Year:

Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles. Romans 16:7

After the conclusion of the First World War, US President Woodrow Wilson was recognized as one of the most powerful leaders on earth. But few knew that after a devastating stroke in 1919, it was his wife who managed nearly all of his affairs, determining which issues should be brought to his attention. In fact, modern historians believe that for a short while, it was really Edith Wilson who served as the president of the United States.

If asked to name the leaders of the early church, most of us would list Peter, Paul, and Timothy as a handful possessing well-documented gifts. But in Romans 16, Paul lists nearly forty people of diverse backgrounds—men, women, slaves, Jews, and gentiles—all of whom contributed to the life of the church in diverse ways.

And far from considering them second-rate members of the church, it’s clear that Paul held these people in the highest regard. He describes them as outstanding among the apostles (v. 7)—people to be celebrated for their service for Jesus.

Many of us feel that we’re too ordinary to be leaders in the church. But the truth is that each of us has gifts that can be used to serve and help others. In God’s strength, let’s use our gifts to His honor!

Reflect & Pray

As a member of the body of Christ, why should you never feel like you’re unimportant? What are some ways you can serve the people in your church?

Jesus, help me to remember that I am an important part of the body of Christ!

We had a great lunch and catching up on the last month’s doings. No nap...needed to get threads ready.

Got home, started upstairs, and realized I forgot to get gas. Went out again and filled up. Walked into the kitchen and the ducks saw the movement. Lots of quaking started up. The last few days have brought at least 50 duckies. I fed them. LOL! They all want to be in the same place and some are really grumpy and grabbing at others. It’s hard to get them spread out.

It always slows down this time of year. That's the main reason the museum closes for the winter. They'll still book tour groups though.

The saddle definitely doesn't look better than when it was new but it looks a lot better than it did. It's an old saddle and will never look new. Here are before and after pix....

I haven't done the breastplate yet. I'll do it one day this coming week.

I hear ya on needing rain badly. We got a little drizzle from the outer edges of what's left of Nestor. Our good chance at rain is Monday when another cold front comes through. It looks like even WE get a shot at this one. :-)

90 degrees sure IS just wrong! I'd hoped y'all were through with that kind of heat by now.

Good evening/morning, Mayor, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.

Hope you got some good rest. You’ve been awfully busy, and moving isn’t easy.

Glad you two were able to get together and chat for a while, and enjoy some yummy food at the same time. Best way to visit. LOL Bummer you couldn’t get a nap afterwards. Must have been hard to concentrate on the threads.

Good that you gassed the car. It would have stunk to get almost to work and run out Monday.

I wondered when the ducks would start showing up again. They sure have no problem remembering where to go for some good eatin’ when the temps drop. :-)
